Chapter 6 - Forgotten Crimson Mist, Obtaining Wood And Steel Sheets

After seeing through the basic information of the Crimson Mist, Gabriel pondered, 'This thing is more dangerous than I expected. Since Mathew and Lucas haven't gone outside the building to explore, they didn't even know about this.'

'Or rather, none of the players should know about it unless they themselves are affected by the memory loss and found out about its effects. So far, no one in the dormitory chat group mentioned anything about it causing memory loss.'

'It's either no one suffered from memory loss due to not daring to explore it. Or if they did, none of them shared such crucial information due to wanting others to suffer the same as they did. I'm more inclined to believe it's the latter.'

Gabriel knew that the world didn't lack idiotic people, so one of those students was bound to brave into the crimson mist.

However, any information about it was withheld by those who discovered its negative effects due to wanting to keep it a secret.

Wanting to know more about the crimson mist, Gabriel exerted his mental energy to empower his Eye of Insight, allowing him to discern more information from the crimson mist.

[Name: Forgotten Crimson Mist]

[Description 2: The crimson mist will recede naturally after every one phase of the Dormitory Survival Game is completed.

If (REDACTED) of phases has been completed, players will gain the authority to traverse the crimson mist and manually open up safe spaces within the Crimson Moon World.]

He noticed that part of the second description had redacted information. However, he ultimately didn't choose to uncover it as his Eye of Insight (Gold) had instinctively warned him that doing so would drain most of his mental energy and even some of his stamina.

Gabriel knew that the first phase of the Dormitory Survival Game hadn't even started yet, so knowing how many phases were required to gain authority to traverse the crimson mist was pointless.

His utmost priority was to gather wood and steel, and other resources he could find. The former was more important as their Dorm 69's door was merely a level 1 wooden door.

When the first phase started and dorm-breaking monsters spawned, a mere level 1 wooden door wouldn't be able to last long.

Moreover, upgrading the door was also paramount if he didn't want other students breaking in and plundering the resources that Lucas had obtained from trading water. Greed was bound to entice them to commit crimes.

Mathew's ability to repair durability was pointless if the door's defense wasn't strong enough to withstand the attack.

With that in mind, Gabriel surveyed his surroundings and found scattered wood. They were in the form of wood planks, and a few were even thick wooden logs.

Farther away, he noticed other students collecting scattered wood.

Even fewer than wooden logs were steel sheets, and the students who found them would scurry over to take them into their inventory. There were even cases where they'd engage in a brawl just for the right to possess it.

Since he needed those resources as well, Gabriel wasn't polite with them as he decided to make use of Wanderer Of The Void (Orange).

Relying on the footwork that came with the Master Swordsman (Blue) talent, Gabriel utilized his speed well as he nimbly traversed the outer perimeter of the Dormitory Building.

"Fuck! Where did that log go?"

"Shit! Even the steel sheet right in front of me disappeared!"

"Motherfucker! Someone's using their talent!"

Curses and swearing rang out outside the Dormitory Building. Those students who were assigned to scavenge for resources felt like the world was targeting them.

Not only were they assigned to such a troublesome work, but someone was even taking the resources in front of them, yet they couldn't even detect the figure of the perpetrator!

Unbeknownst to those students, a concealed figure moved rapidly in their blind spots.

Human vision was limited, and none of those students possessed 360-degree vision.

Because of that, Gabriel made use of his Eye of Insight to detect the flaws in their sight range. Under his gaze, he'd find areas marked by his eyes to be undetected areas.

With his swift and agile footwork, Gabriel managed to snatch the wood and steel sheets from those "blind" students.

In a case where there were no blind spots, Gabriel would immediately use Wanderer Of The Void to conceal his presence to the point that even if he was in front of them, they wouldn't be able to detect him.

The only reason he didn't abuse that and instead used Eye of Insight was due to it consuming his stamina greater than the Eye of Insight's energy cost.

[Wood x3]

[Wood x1]

[Steel sheet x1]

After ten minutes had passed, Gabriel stopped hearing those notification sounds from the Dormitory Survival Game as he stopped his looting.

Under his wanton looting, the faces of the students outside looked like they had eaten shit.

After all, who could stand seeing their coveted resource disappearing in front of them just as they were about to place it inside their inventory?

'There are only five minutes left until the start of the Dormitory Survival Game's first phase. No wonder these schoolmates of mine are acting as if the sky had fallen. Without sufficient resources to upgrade their door, they'd be as good as dead when the first phase starts.'

Despite that, Gabriel didn't have any thoughts of helping them or acting like a saint.

The Dormitory Survival Game was already perilous, and one wrong move would cause injury, if not death. Helping another person under such circumstances was no longer kindness but stupidity.

Such a death-seeking act, he, Gabriel Ashford, wasn't interested!

Let other people do it, it's fine if it's just his bros and him who'd see through this to the end!

...

With only five minutes left, Gabriel didn't hesitate to return to Dorm 69.

When he returned, he saw Lucas lying on his bed, exhausted and drained, as if he had been sucked dry by his girlfriend.

At the side, Mathew was busy arranging and storing food and other supplies that they had obtained from trading water with other players.

Looking at Lucas's listless expression, Gabriel felt relieved, 'Fortunately, I wasn't the one using Water Generation!'
