The radio start buzzing and a voice suddenly comes out to it.
" Do anyone hear me!? I repeat! Do anyone hear me!? ",
The commander grab the radio and listen to what the soldier is talking about.
" What wrong!? What happened to the camp!? ",
The commander ask.
" Six peoples attacked our camp and destroyed it completely! They all beat up our soldiers, even the captain was down too! ",
The soldier said, while the commander was amaze at their strength.
" Where are they now!? ",
" We're not sure sir, after they interrogate us about the president's location, they left after having no clue gather from us! ",
The soldier said again.
It makes the commander breath lightly now, he told them to go back in the main camp but carefully not get followed by the bandits.
The president came inside of the radio camp, he sat in a chair and look at the commander.
" Perez, those kids who fought our ranks...do you think they know about the project? ",
The president ask,
" I'm not sure sir, but their goal is to find you...so there's a high chance of them knowing about the project you created years ago ",
The commander bow his head,
" Mhm, there's only one person who can tell them about the project i created, that person who's with us for many years, and one of the contributors for the project ",
The commander realizes who the president is talking about,
" Is it Dr. West? ",
The president just smirk,
" No other than her, after the fall of Middle District, West can't be found anymore...so i come out with a theory that she might flew out the district just to warn her own son that surviving in Southern District ",
The president stood up, and look outside of the camp.
" Perez, look for someone who's capable to lead a excellent group of scouts...i want them to find and take Dr. West Angeline in here ",
The commander bow his head once again, and immediately set out to find a suitable captain to lead the scout team on searching West.
[ Eastern District—SouthWest Farmland ]
A huge prison outpost was standing in the middle of a massive farmland. It was surrounded with only wheat land, fruits and vegetables plants that has been there for a long time.
The prison outpost was an abandoned structure, left with infected prisoners inside and some guards that has been bitten when the outbreak happened in the Eastern District. After Fionna and her group enter the Eastern District, they immediately stumble the abandoned prison outpost.
They clear everything inside and examine if its suitable for a safe and peaceful settlement for them to live in.
With the help of West's soldiers, they easily exterminated all the infecteds inside without any casualties in the group. There's three layers in the prison outpost, first layer was only a pathway and some barbed wire fences, watchtowers and small garages for vehicles. It was like a circular massive wall that protecting the main building of the outpost. The second layer was only a grass field, where there's courtyard, benches, and other stuff that prisoners are using before. The last layer, the third one is where the main building are. The structure was built with massive land, multiple rooms, cells in second to third floor of the building, the office can be found in the first floor alongside the storage room and few bathroom stall.
In each floor, there's atleast five blocks with ten prison cell each. The group successfully clear the whole outpost and turn it into a massive settlement for them and other survivors to live and stay.
Two guards are standing on top of the watchtower in east side of the outpost, one of them are using binoculars to scout the surrounding, until he saw a upcoming vehicle, driving towards their direction.
" Is it that...",
Until he realizes, the two of them immediately came down the tower and open the gate for the car to get inside. The car enter, and park besides the watchtower.
Henry and the others came out the car, he was carrying Fionna because she got unconscious after fighting the mutated captain earlier.
" Sir, what happened to her? ",
One soldier ask,
" Don't worry, she only passed out because of exhaustion...take her in the main building in her room, take care of her ",
Henry ask politely.
Two guards take Fionna, while Henry and Chris look at the guards who opened the gate for them.
" Where is Dr. West? ",
Henry ask.
" Uhh, we didn't see her earlier...but i'm sure she was in her room ",
Henry thanks him, and the five of them immediately head back in the main building to find West.
As they enter the main building, they saw how lively the inside of the main building. Families are gathering and having chit chat with each other, kid's running around playing, guards helping some elderly.
" Will Vins like this place we built? ",
Addam ask.
" Yes he is...after all, he was very kind to us ",
Chris said, continue walking towards the second floor.
Before they climb in the stair, a woman suddenly stop them and she was looking worried.
" I'm glad all of you is here now! I have a good news and a bad news for all of us! ",
The woman name is Benedetta—a town's doctor and she knows a lot about herbs and plant medicines. She was wearing a lab coat, a belt full of medical equipment, and a waist belt with herbs inside of it. She has a short wiggling brown hair, and glasses that made out of scrap glass.
" Her condition is getting worse! ",
She said with tears in her eyes.
" Who? Who you talking about? ",
Chris ask
" KAREN!! ",
Everyone immediately run towards the infirmary, as they arrive inside they saw Karen is having hard time on breathing. Her face was full red, and her breathing is kinda struggling. Chris and Addam rush besides her, checking her condition.
" Karen, hang on...",
Chris said,
" I thought Dr. West is doing everything she can just to cure her!? What happened!? ",
Chris said with a loud voice.
" She did, but something inside her is fighting the medicine that we both created, its like her cell is eating or exterminating the medicine ",
Benedetta said,
" What do you mean? She has something like Anti-medicine? ",
Elmar ask.
" No, but something like that...what i'm saying is, her immune system is different than us...instead of absorbing the drug, its fighting it...killing the effect of the drug ",
Benedetta explains.
" So you saying is, Karen has a killer type immune system? ",
Chris ask.
" Kinda, but i prefer calling it a Killing Cell ",
Benedetta said.
They all look at Karen with worries on their eyes. Its been two years since her sickness appears, it was the time when she suddenly unlocked something inside her. The day where Vins and the group is raiding the Black Bandits base two years ago, where Vins is getting beat up by Harris—the strongest Black bandits commander, he has a powerful brute strength and brutal killing method.
As Vins is about to get killed by Harris, Karen suddenly scream so loud releasing a massive echoes that suddenly turn the infecteds towards Harris. Its where Vins suddenly used the unconscious mode and almost killed Harris because of that.
After that day, Karen start showing symptoms that led to her condition today. It got worse a bit when Vins died and after they enter the Eastern District. While West is curing her, it become worse because the drug getting no effect on Karen's body.
" Poor kid, she must be struggling a lot ",
Addam said.
" How can we cure her? If those drug you giving is not effective ",
Chris ask.
" I don't know yet, even Dr. West doesn't know how to cure her...she doing her best, but you know her condition too ",
Everyone look at each other, knowing West's condition after Vins death.
" She become unhealthy, yes we remember ",
Chris said.
" She can't move for so long anymore, she even passing out when she's doing a lot of medical works...",
Benedetta said with worries.
" We have no choice, even tho we search for them...there's no medicines around the district anymore, the government bombed the Southern District two years ago, we don't know if the Northern District was safe enough to venture ",
Chris said while caressing Karen's head.
" Northern District is not safe, i told you all that...its a place full of buildings and high structures, its an urban district with so many peoples living there ",
Henry suddenly speak.
" With high population, it will fall easily...",
Everyone can't think any solution anymore. Chris stood up and look quickly at Karen.
" Be strong kid, don't just die easily ",
Everyone walk out except Addam and Benedetta. Chris and Henry immediately head up towards West room, while Leigh and Elmar goes out the building to scout around the outpost.
" Everything is falling apart...first, Dr. West is not in condition to work hard to find a solution for this apocalypse...second, Karen's condition is getting worse...life doesn't goes as we plan ",
Chris said.
" That's how life is moving, we can't avoid the fate that already plan for us ",
Henry said.
" Oh yeah, when did Fionna learn all of our fighting techniques? ",
Chris ask with confusion.
" I don't know, but i'm sure she only watch it from us...after Vins death, she changed a lot ",
Henry stop in the stairs.
" But i'm glad she become stronger than before, she became unstoppable now ",
Henry added.
" Yeah, she is...",
The two of them arrives in the third floor, they head towards West's room in the end of the corridor. As they knock in the door, the captain of the soldiers came out with worried look.
" Henry, Chris...what you two doing here? ",
The captain ask.
" We just want to talk something with Dr. West ",
Chris said.
" I would love to let you to in, but madam's condition is not good today ",
He said.
" That's fine, its only a short conversation with her and then we'll let her rest ",
Henry said.
The captain sigh, he open the door and get inside again but with Henry and Chris this time. West look at them with confusion, she sit on her bed looking at the two of them.
" What brings you two here? How's the camp raid you doing earlier? ",
West said.
West become different than two years ago, her body become more frail and looking like skeleton. Her eyes are now full of depression and stress building in her mind.
" I'm sorry for interrupting ma'am ",
Chris said.
" You never interrupting me Chris, you are my son's friend and i will welcome you always ",
West said, then coughed.
" Ehem, ma'am we found nothing in the camp...we interrogate those soldiers one by one but no one tell us where the president is camping ",
Chris explains.
" Really? I'm sure they are loyal to him, we have no choice...you six did everything you can just to find information, you did great today ",
West smiles but maintain her beautiful face.
" I'm sorry about Karen by the way, i did everything but her sickness is something similar to the Zectoma Virus ",
Chris and Henry was surprised at the sudden information West give to them.
" What you mean she has a similar to that virus!? Is she an infected!? ",
Chris shout.
" Calm down, i wouldn't call her infected...but more likely a Carrier ",
West said.
" What do you mean ma'am? ",
Henry ask.
" You all know that all of us has virus inside of us right? Its a dormant type of virus that need to be triggered by something to fully transform us into fully infected ",
West explains.
" In Karen's situation, yes she was completely infected but in different way, you see...the virus inside her is something that i never saw before...",
West look at the two of them.
"...the virus is gave her gifts ",
