Chapter 13 - Orange Colored Sky

2 months, it took me to stinkin months to complete my power armor. Almost every day a new technology was brought in and I'd have to redesign or completely remake. A new sensor here, a new actuator there, I couldn't complete my armor cause new, better stuff kept popping up. I got so tired of it I stopped as soon as something came up. The Glorianas fleet had been completed, 50 escorts, 10 cruisers, and five battleships. As soon as the Gloriana dreadnought was completed I was sending it and its fleet to the Mandalor system. A part about the invaders I had recently remembered was that they had come from the galactic north so making Mandalore a bastion would effectively cut off the east side of the galaxy. The next Gloriana dreadnought would probably be sent to Iridonia or Dantooine.

The spine and skeleton of the dreadnought were done with the body needing to be built up. I had already named this ship and its next two sisters to be built after I left. The current ship was named 'Without Flesh' as it would be a massive city built to produce massive droid armies wherever it was. Without Flesh's sister would be named 'Without Blood' and 'Without Bone.'

Without Blood would be a tank, designed to take damage that would crack a planet and continue fighting. Without Bone was to be a mass fighter/bomber craft factory, surrounded by so many fighters and bombers that it would look fluid when it moved. After the three sisters the engineers could build what they wanted. I had even heard of another dreadnought with a massive amount of engines and a continent cracking blade on the front, the name had been tossed around but they'd eventually dubbed it the 'Without Skull.'

After looking at the progress I went to the Jedi temple with my old armor and dragged some Jedi to the temple's lower levels to fight and explore. The Jedi went pretty deep into the temple depths, past the destroyed sith shrine. They were forced to stop when a level showed unbreathable air. Most of the Jedi went back up to grab the artifacts we had left behind but Anakin, Obi-wan, and Windu stayed there to wait for me.

I delved deeper into the ruins finding many old items that the Jedi would value. I began filling my expanded pockets while searching for anything interesting. The only thing I found of interest on the first few floors besides artifacts was some crusader armor that might have been mandalorian from the T visor and the cowl over the helm. The armor also had an old rusty blade and shield.

I immediately stuffed it into a pocket and continued on. Five levels below the first armor I found four more with some different armor and an old lightsaber. I took all the items and continued on. The next floor was a jackpot, multiple mando armor sets and three Jedi sets. These were definitely Revan followers against some kind of mandalorian infiltration.

I took everything I dipped, I had hit the jackpot and didn't want to gamble it all. On the way up they found me, mutants. We'd run into multiple packs of them but this wasn't a pack, it was a horde. Within the horde was stuff that called to my greed. Armor and weapons I recognized along with a leader wearing nearly complete dull beskar. The beast however had four arms, and was massive.

I wanted that stuff so I lined my hallway with traps and mines then unloaded my plasma cannon into the horde while tossing a few bombs. The mutant leader howled in rage and pulled out a massive dull beskar axe. I immediately shot down my hallway and pulled out a rotary blaster. As the horde chased me into the hallway I began cutting them down as they hit traps.

The area shook as bombs went off and bodies dropped. After a solid minute of mutants dying the leader entered. Most traps had been triggered so I couldn't count on them. As the bug bastard charged I figured I'd test a new weapon on it. I had an expanded space just for this gun. Using the absurd tech here I made an automatic railgun. It functioned like an airsoft gun but instead of firing a plastic BB mine shot near light speed depleted uranium BBs.

The beskar didn't do much as a single round popped right through the chest plate and the micro explosives in the BB vaporizing the projectile before it could cut its way through the planets levels and cause chaos. A second later the temple underground vibrated as a massive explosion of sonic booms rocked the level. The leader hit the floor its innards trickling out as a bio fluid mush.

The next few hours were spent grabbing all the loot I could and then burning the rest. I made it back to the temple wit the others and dropped off the stuff I'd grabbed for the Jedi and immediately went back to my place.

Two more months passed before my new armor was complete. It was much like the past design but way better in every way. The armor plating was multiple types all put together under a thick layer of beskar. With the advanced tech here I had gotten rid of the coat as the armor didn't need it for what it did anymore. I had integrated the T visor to honor the ones who had died wearing the beskar I had reforged. It had taken a bit of experimentation but I had figured out how to forge beskar.

The armor looked absolutely amazing now and it was the perfect time to wear it as it was the unveiling day for Without Flesh. It wouldn't be a big deal to me as I'd be leaving but it would shake the senate as the Jedi almost owned the entire thing outright. When the senate meeting started that day they thought it would be the new normal but I walked in and sent them all the information we were releasing to the public.

There was a stunned silence within the chamber as I moved my floating thingy to the middle. I then began explaining the excuse we'd made up about a private exploration outside the galaxy revealing a massively powerful invading civilization and why we couldn't have peace with them. The senate immediately started trying to get in on the action but I left as I knew I would fall soon.

I did a quick speech and we sent the Gloriana Class Dreadnought Without Flesh off to start preparing Mandalore to be a bastion system.

After the send off I hung out wit the Jedi for a bit then gave them goodbyes and left in a small ship and sat in space above the planet. My fall was unexpected, the yellow orange glow of the planet below subtly shifted fully orange and I felt gravity take hold. I was pretty high up by the shy was still tinged orange. I easily recognized this planet. In the war anything that could be used by a quantum computer was taken for just that, but we'd been allowed an old Xbox and some games we had found. One game series we had a full collection of was Fallout.

I recognized the world by the massive glowing green cloud of debris in Canada and the nasty green glow from the commonwealth and New York. Those green spots were far away however as I fell on the west coast. I caught myself ontop of a water tower on a hill covered in graves overlooking a town. I was backlit by New Vegas as I looked down at the scum below me who had tied up and executed a courier. The dumped the body in a fresh grave with about a foot of dirt on top. After the idiots left I jumped down and pulled the courier out of the dirt. I laid them beside the grave as a song played from a one wheeled robot rolled up the hill.

~I was walking along, minding my business

When out of an orange-colored sky

Flash! Bam! Alakazam!

Wonderful you came by~

~I was humming a tune, drinking in sunshine

When out of that orange-colored view

Flash! Bam! Alakazam!

I got a look at you~

I jumped up to the water tower listening to the music as the sky became fully black. A new world to see and explore. I was excited and eager but also exhausted. I wanted to stay somewhere but I'd been cursed to keep uprooting. This power sucks.

~Flash! Bam! Alakazam! and goodbye~

Wow! I thought love was much softer than that, what a most disturbing sound.
