Chapter 25 - A city in the dark. A castle covered in lies.

Arthur heaved a breath and threw himself on top of the gigantic wall.

Lying on his back, he just stared at the retreating sun, catching his breath.

Getting up, he looked at what seemed to be a ruined city.

Frowning, he looked around, noticing a bright castle on top of a higher hill, and a smile appeared on his face.

Walking to one of the towers, he descended the rigid stairs, careful not to fall down.

Finally walking on solid earth once again, Arthur let out a breath and walked towards the castle.

Reaching close to the castle, having killed a few nightmare creatures, he was met by what seemed to be the main road.

And other sides of the road, all around it.

We're people, living in ruined buildings, some even in makeshift tents, confused he decided to ask around.

Two hours later Arthur had most of the picture.

Apparently, the current ruler was a tyrant, and having his own power and the support of other trained sleepers, who were in much better shape.

Didn't allow anyone to leave.

He also seemingly held executions, usually carried out by the butcher known as Harus.

Learning that the entry to the castle costs shards, specifically one awakened for a week.

Arthur went into the dark city once again.

Returning an hour later, with several shards.

Entering the castle, after showing the guards he could pay, Arthur was met by a woman at a desk.

Registering his name and paying the single awakened shard.

Entering the room he received, Arthur let out a tired sigh.

Dismissing his leather armor, he washed himself off, dressed in the casual clothes on the bed, and went to sleep.

This is what he has been waiting for, peace even for a moment.

The next morning, he went to the dining hall, where he ate the honestly terrible food, which consisted of monster meat, some edible plant life, and water. It was a rather bland meal, despite having all the necessary ingredients.

Finishing his meal, a semi constant event happened, the right off challenge, or something.

Arthur watched, barely paying attention; however, when the accused, who was obviously guilty of the crime, accepted and chose his champion to be Harus the butcher, Arthur stood up, a slight frown on his face.

Watching with some interest, he saw as the man rushed towards Harus, no form, no tactic, just brute force. Arthur saw something interesting, the man stopped suddenly, looking around as if confused.

And then Harus moved, lopping off the head clean off, blood sprayed everywhere as the man's now dead body collapsed.

Arthur looked at Harus more intensely; obviously, his aspect was some sort of blindness to the enemy, seemingly only visual, though.

As the false justice ended, Arthur left the dining hall and the bright castle entirely. He would not associate with such vile people.
