Chapter 21 - How dare she call them little games!

Nighttime.

Black clouds covered the starry sky, slowly drifting with the breeze.

"Damn it!" Loic growled, his jaw clenched. "Those damn dogs set us up!"

The sound of footsteps echoed behind him. Shadows danced around him as the Inquisition hunters pursued him relentlessly.

A few hours earlier, they had summoned him to give them information about the noble vampires prowling the area. Loic, who had been cooperating with them, agreed, as he was using that information to keep them busy... so he could hide the Blood of Christ he had stolen.

However, once he arrived at the agreed location, he was attacked! If it weren't for the fact that he is an older vampire, he would have died.

"Tsk." He clicked his lips in anger and glanced sideways, where he saw several hunters wearing Templar armor. "I have to escape from them." His eyes glowed blood red, and a bloody pressure left his body.

He stopped abruptly and turned around, quickly placing his hands on the floor.

Buzz! Buzz!

Suddenly, the ground began to vibrate, as if an earthquake were about to occur... but the opposite happened: hundreds of sharp metal objects shot out of the ground at high speed.

"Hahck!"

"Kugh!"

"Huek!"

The Inquisition hunters were caught off guard, and many of them died in this sudden attack.

"HAHAHA! Die, you damn worms!" Loic turned and continued running; now that the nuisance was gone, he could easily escape.

Suddenly, his right arm flew off; he opened his eyes in surprise...

Boom!

A loud noise echoed through the area, raising a large cloud of dust. Shortly after, the dust began to dissipate, revealing a crack at least a kilometer long in the ground.

"SHIT!" Loic turned his face, contorted with rage... but instantly froze.

With his vampiric vision, he saw a man with thick, masculine eyebrows, a straight nose bridge, cold black eyes, and long black hair. He wore a long, faded black coat and a gold crucifix around his neck, and in his hand he carried a large, long, curved sword.

It was D!

One of the four generals of the Inquisition!

"Damn..." Loic clenched his teeth, forming a huge metal axe. "This couldn't get any worse."

He slammed it into the ground and charged forward.

BOOOOM!

...

On the other side of New York City.

"I have to do something," Lucien muttered, sitting up in the coffin that Mayla had gotten for him without his consent.

He hadn't done anything in the last three days: just drinking his wife's blood, checking social media, and nothing else.

Now that he was unemployed, he didn't get up early to go to work... but he couldn't go on like this.

"So this is the immortal dream... eternal unemployment." He stretched, yawning.

Suddenly, he remembered: "Right! I have to familiarize myself with my powers!"

Now that he knew what to do, he left the room and headed to the basement.

Before starting, Lucien moved his joints following the instructions of a fitness video featuring a beautiful woman.

"Okay, I'm ready." He paused the video, jumped up slightly, took a deep breath, and closed his eyes, recalling the sensation he felt when he used his lightning powers.

Rumble... Rumble...

The air began to crackle as the seconds passed.

He opened his eyes, looked at himself, and saw that he was covered in red lightning bolts. "I feel like a god of thunder." He smiled happily: he finally had time to test his powers.

"Let's begin with the tests."

He took a step and...

Boom!

After the loud bang, Lucien was lying face down, in shock, on the other side of the basement.

"What the hell?" he exclaimed. He had only taken one step and had already crashed into the reinforced wall.

He put his hand on his chin and thought.

When he was fighting the hunters, he could move relatively easily... but now, when he tried to do so, it was as if he had gone from 0 to 100 in a second.

"Hmm... I think I understand what's going on." He got up on his hands and sat up with an acrobatic movement.

Now he understood why he had been thrown against the wall when he used the rays. Unlike when he was fighting, his body moved instinctively... but now, doing it consciously, he couldn't control it.

"How complicated and strange this is..." He sighed and shook his head, then closed his eyes again... and his body was covered in red rays.

This time, he focused his attention on moving them with his hands. Little by little, the rays traveled throughout his body, passing through his arms until they completely covered his hands.

"Uff... this is much harder than I thought." Lucien was breathing heavily; beads of sweat ran down his face and back.

He clasped his hands together, and they began to crackle more loudly. Then he placed them on the floor, and red rays spread throughout the basement like an electric field.

Seeing the result, he smiled with satisfaction; he could use it to immobilize his enemies for at least a few seconds.

He stood up again and clasped his hands together once more. The rays of light converged on a single bright point, and he shouted enthusiastically:

"HADOUKEN!"

The lightning struck the wall, and half the basement lit up...

Lucien continued testing, using his lightning powers in different ways. After a few minutes, he was lying on the floor covered in sweat, his eyes glowing blood red.

At that moment, footsteps could be heard quietly coming down the stairs. Lucien looked up and saw Selene in sportswear.

"I'm here to join in," she said with a predatory smile, watching him for a moment: "Because last time we were interrupted at the best part."

"You've arrived at the perfect moment." He stood up, ready to begin the fight. What's more, this was a great help to him, as he didn't have a shred of combat experience.

"Then, let's begin." Selene created an ice spear, her eyes turned blood red, and she vanished.

Lucien covered his body with lightning and stepped to the side, and Selene's spear grazed him, freezing part of the cut.

"You have good reflexes," Selene praised him, taking a few steps back.

He didn't answer, just smiled excitedly, disappeared, leaving rays in the air, reappeared behind her, and attacked her, but was stopped by a bar of ice.

"That's very predictable, darling."

Suddenly, several spikes came out of the barrier and pierced his body.

"Ugh..." Lucien coughed up blood. Before he could react, Selene was already behind him. She grabbed him and landed a combo of punches with her hand covered by an ice glove. She let go and then kicked him, sending him flying into the wall.

Booom!

Lucien rose, covered in wounds that were healed thanks to his vampire regeneration; his body was covered in red lightning bolts.

With a slight movement of his legs, he appeared in front of Selene and tried to hit her, but she defended herself with ease.

He took a few steps back, but she was already in front of him, and the spear split into two daggers. Lucien couldn't react.

"Darling, you're very crude." Selene undid the daggers; she didn't have a single scratch. "You have good reflexes and your lightning power gives you great speed... but you're too predictable. You lack variety."

"Yes... You're right, and if I were to face a veteran hunter, I wouldn't last five minutes." Lucien stopped using the red rays, and his eyes returned to normal.

"That's right." She nodded, approached him, and offered him her arm: "Bite," she said.

He didn't hesitate, bit down, and began to suck the blood. He felt his body regain strength and finished standing up.

"I really am very inexperienced." He sighed disappointedly, but excited at the same time, because he had learned a lot from this brief battle. And he couldn't refute Selene's words, because she was right.

His attacks were very predictable, but he couldn't help it; he had never played contact sports, focusing only on surviving and studying.

"Selene, can you help me with my training?" Lucien looked at her with a smile.

"Of course, darling." Selene fixed her hair and began to leave the basement.

Lucien followed close behind, watching her large rear end swaying with a hypnotic rhythm.

...

On the 104th floor of a skyscraper.

Sesha was reclining in a top-of-the-line gaming chair, playing Dark Souls, doing a speedrun. She was close to breaking the world record, which was 19 minutes and 51 seconds.

Suddenly, her screen goes blank. "...WHAT!?" She jumps up and sees Kronii standing there with the plug in her hand, a neutral expression on her face. "Kronii, what the hell did you do! Do you know how hard that was? She exploded with rage... She was about to break a world record, a world record!

Kronii did not take offense: "My Lady, when do you plan to visit your husband?" she asks in a neutral tone.

"Damn it! That's not what's important right now. I've been trying to beat that time for 10 hours." She slumps into her chair, her mood at rock bottom.

"My Lady, but if they're just games, why all the drama?" Kronii doesn't understand why she's making such a big deal out of it, even if it's just a simple game. It's not like the world has ended because of it, right?

"You..." Sesha points her finger at her, as if she had heard the greatest blasphemy... although in reality, it was blasphemy! How dare she call them little games! Is she crazy?

She didn't know what to say and finally made a decision: "I'd better go see my husband. I can't be in the same room as a heretic like you." She picks up an Asus 7 console and leaves the room.

"???" Several question marks appeared above Kronii's head... but she didn't care, because she had achieved her goal.

So she followed her too, to go see Lucien.
