"What do we do?" I asked Father.
He hadn't responded to anything I'd been saying. He just stared at the newspaper, even though the situation was dire.
We had suffered three significant losses in three months. It wasn't just investors backing out of deals. That alone could have been managed, even if losing nearly a hundred of them for no clear reason was devastating.
The damage was far worse than that. And to be honest, I had been trying to understand everything that had been happening over the past few days, but nothing made sense.
Just three months ago, everything had been going fine. The market was in our favor. A great project was ongoing. The biggest investors were ready to pour their life savings into it. Then everything went poof.
Overnight.
Again, like I'd said before, it made no fucking sense.
