"What is going on, baby?" I glanced at Owen, who was staring at his laptop, his hands cupping his face.
"Yes?" he asked, not looking at me.
"This is the second card I've used in three months, and none of them work. I can't do my usual shopping online or even go anywhere. The last time I used this stupid card, I was humiliated."
I tossed the card onto the couch beside me, glaring at it as my thoughts drifted back to the mall incident, which was still very much in the media's mouth.
It was also one of the reasons I couldn't even step outside without everyone chasing after me like fucking flies. Maybe I once liked the attention. I did strive for it. But right now, I'd take anything if it meant not being noticed. I just wanted to be ignored.
If only that were possible.
Owen didn't answer. He only grunted and nodded slightly, still focused on his laptop screen.
