DOMINIC
I raised my head from my desk as my office door creaked open. Even though I had put up a sign saying "Do Not Disturb" outside, I knew it was unlikely for Mila and Jason to abide by it.
Jason wheeled himself into the room. He had only come home three days ago from the hospital. The doctor said he was fine now and could complete the rest of his recovery at home, although I didn't think it was ideal that he had been discharged so soon.
But he wanted to come home. He wanted to see Mila. And Harper. Not me.
Even though I couldn't understand how their relationship had evolved so quickly to the point where he worried about her and wanted to be around her, I'd say Harper had that effect on everyone. On me.
She even had Mila calling her mommy.
A mother indeed.
A small scoff left me.
If she truly wanted to be a mother as she had claimed, she would have returned home yesterday. But she had fucking made everything about her again.
About her feelings.
