HARPER
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Fletcher, because of your recent accident and the procedures you underwent, your uterus is still healing. Attempting an abortion at this stage could cause severe bleeding or even rupture, which would be life-threatening."
I didn't even wait to correct the doctor on the name he had called me or listen to the rest of what he had to say. I stumbled out of his office, in desperate need of fresh air, only to find myself a few minutes later in the park.
I sat on a bench, staring at the bright blue sky before looking around me, my thoughts swirling.
I let out a bitter laugh, shaking my head.
Six weeks pregnant.
After confirming the father of my child, maybe I should be grateful it wasn't some psycho or even Owen who was responsible. Yet the father was still the same person putting me through all the pain I was currently enduring.
I couldn't even get an abortion. I had to live with it, live with something I didn't want.
