HARPER
My father forced the pen into my hand and made me sign the paper. I couldn't fight him. No. Definitely, not in the position I was in.
I sucked in a breath as he snatched the folder back, a triumphant grin spreading across his face.
"Now what do you plan to do with that?" I asked in a low voice.
"Watch and see, daughter dearest," he said, eyes gleaming with mischief.
My stomach twisted. I didn't like the look on his face; nothing good ever came from it.
"You'd never do this to Camilla," I murmured as he started toward the door. "No matter what she does, you'd never force her into something like this. But me…"
I swallowed hard, fighting the tears burning behind my eyes.
"You say we share the same blood, then why are you punishing me like this? Why won't you treat me like a human being? If you hate me so much, then let me go. I'll walk away, pretend I never knew any of you… and I'll be just fine."
