"She's divorcing him publicly? That's fast…" the man behind the desk murmured, his half-finished glass of wine resting near his lip.
He set it down, eyes narrowing at the tablet his assistant scrolled through.
"I thought she vanished. How is she making a statement now?"
"I have no idea, boss," David Blooms replied, closing the tablet and straightening his posture.
"Perhaps she's under duress," the boss mused, fingers brushing over his smooth chin.
"I'd say that too," David agreed. "But she's Dominic's wife. Who's stupid enough to take her captive and force her into divorcing him?"
He snorted. The last time he'd seen Dominic Fletcher was when he'd taken Harper. The man had been as formidable as ever. If he hadn't escaped fast enough, Dominic would have seen him and would have recognized him.
David shivered inwardly at the memory of that night. If Dominic had seen him—really seen him—he wouldn't be standing here now.
