Hades's face clearly showed his displeasure. Friends? Why would she ever need friends?
"She says that she does not know much about ladies' etiquette," Steward continued. He had always been loyal to his master, yet at the same time he felt it would be wrong to let Hades know outright that Evangeline wished to broaden her own horizon. "A friend of her age, an acquaintance at the very least, would be necessary for her. I have heard that before she was brought to the castle, her family had never particularly taught her such matters."
Steward paused briefly, choosing his words with care.
"And now, with no guidance on how a woman is expected to act or carry herself, she feels rather at a loss," he added gently. "As though she is falling behind, unsure of where she stands or what she should do."
