Celeste shook his head, "I don't know. That's not what I'm saying… maybe. All I know is that the pendant responds to you, in ways that make it… unstable. And if the pendant falters, then everything it holds back could escape,"
Theo's mind spun, "So… you keep the Veil from breaking, but I… I make it… react?"
Celeste didn't answer immediately
"Something like that," he murmured, "I've never seen it behave the way it did last night. I don't understand it completely… and I don't know if anyone can. But you… you affect it,"
Theo's pulse raced. She didn't know she was, but somehow, she was already the epicentre of something monumental. And Celeste, this quiet, unassuming Alpha from the south… he was somehow tied to it too, though even he didn't fully know how.
They were both trying to figure out something, and also trying to stop how Cain would use it against them.
Celeste stood up afterwards, "I'm leaving now. Do NOT drag me back!"
