Zeke looked like a man confronting his greatest enemy.
It wasn't Sylas, or Cain, or any student in the academy.
It was worse. A Romance Novel he had gotten from the library hours ago.
He sat on the edge of his bed, holding a small pink and gold paper back between his fingers like it might bite him. His brows were furrowed so hard they almost touched, and every few seconds he would squint at a second like he was trying to decide something.
His lips parted, his lips twitching with horror, "Why is he staring at her 'like she hung the moon'" He muttered under his breath, "What the hell does that even - why would anyone stare at someone like that? Why are there so many feelings in this thing?" He was truly baffled, flipping the pages reluctantly, "Isn't he just supposed to say what he wants? What's with all the confusion and overthinking a hug for three pages?"
Zeke slumped back against his pillow, genuinely exhausted as he book slipped off his fingers.
