Celeste cut her off sharply, "Don't say it,"
She went still, still reeling from the shock.
"My other form is none of your concern," he said, his voice suddenly edged with steel, "Not now. Not here,"
"But Cain.. he..."
"He used it," Celeste said flatly, "That's all you need to know for now,"
Theo felt the weight of it and the hidden pain in his eyes.
Suddenly she understood the warm milk.
The silence.
The way he recognised something in her, she didn't know how to name.
He wasn't just being kind.
He recognised her fear because it was something they shared.
Celeste turned his head slightly, purple eyes settling on her, "Whatever he wants from you…" His voice tightened, "…he'll stop at nothing. I learned that the hard way,"
