Chapter 176. Chaos Xyz with Gods as Tribute! You Even Need Positioning to Play Yu-Gi-Oh!?
In the short video.
Black Rose Dragon's explosion was about to sweep the entire Duel field!
A-side Duelist: "I activate Constellar Pleiades's effect!"
A-side Duelist: "I can detach a material to bounce 1 card."
B-blue-side Duelist: "Come on, come on! Bounce my Black Rose Dragon!"
A-side Duelist: "Who said I'm bouncing that trash monster?"
A-side Duelist: "I'm bouncing my 'Summon Limit'!!!"
B-blue-side Duelist: "???"
B-blue-side Duelist: "You really are a freaking genius!"
"I activate the Field Spell 'World Legacy Scars'!"
"I discard 1 'World Legacy' card to draw 1 card!"
"My turn is over."
After a round of explosions, Black Rose Dragon did clear the field nicely!
But the retrieval of "Summon Limit" left Duelists across the Duel Worlds unsettled!
This guy!
To keep a disruption for next time,
he actually bounced back "Summon Limit"!
And that line—indeed—was the optimal solution for the current board!
You have to admit it!
If he didn't retrieve it,
those resources would've gone to the Graveyard for nothing!
Over in the 5D's world,
Yusei Fudo, Jack Atlas, Crow Hogan, and the others didn't get it at first.
Constellar Pleiades can bounce cards.
Why not bounce when summoning a Mekk-Knight?
But in the next breath, they were at ease.
Since it's not a multi-use bounce,
you save it for the key card at the end!
What they didn't expect
was that this Mekk-Knight list also ran Vanquish Soul!
And A-side didn't have an EARTH Attribute.
Otherwise Caesar Valius could've been kept at least.
Now the Duel had entered a stalemate.
C-red-side Duelist: "It's my turn! Draw!"
C-red-side Duelist: "If my Main Monster Zones are empty, I can activate this. I Special Summon 'Vanquish Soul Panthera'!"
"Link 1 with Panthera to summon 'Rock of the Vanquisher'!"
"Activate Rock's effect to Special Summon 'Vanquish Soul Razen' from my hand!"
"Razen's effect searches 'Vanquish Soul Caesar Valius'!"
"I return Razen to the hand and Special Summon Caesar Valius!"
"I Normal Summon 'Satellite Synchron'!"
"8 + 2 equals Level 10!"
"Come forth, 'Baronne de Fleur'!"
"I enter the Battle Phase!"
"Take 3000 damage!"
"My turn is over."
After C-side's development, the advantage swung back!
The LP comparison had also become clearer!
Red Side LP: 10,200!
Blue Side LP: only 3,950!
The gap kept widening under floodgates and interruptions!
D-blue-side Duelist: "My turn! Draw!"
D-blue-side Duelist: "I activate the Field Spell 'Earthbound Prison'!"
C-red-side Duelist: "I activate Rock's effect to Special Summon Razen."
C-red-side Duelist: "Razen searches another Caesar Valius!"
"Activate Caesar Valius to return Razen and Special Summon Caesar Valius."
"I activate the effect of 'Hop Ear Squadron' in my hand!"
"During the opponent's Main Phase: target 1 face-up monster I control; Special Summon this card from my hand, and use only that monster and this card as material to Synchro Summon."
"I Tuner-up Caesar Valius with this card!"
"Come forth—'Bystial Dis Pater'!!!"
???
Wait, whose turn is it, actually?
This Vanquish Soul engine's got something going on!
It seems able to come out at Quick Effect speed in the opponent's turn!
This Deck!
Can it also set up on the opponent's turn—play the 'your turn is my turn' routine?
Even more unexpected—
the inclusion of that Hop Ear card!
In tandem with this engine, it even enabled Accel Synchro!
What's more—
it used hand resources to make that Accel Synchro!
Thinking on it,
Duelists had to start re-evaluating the Vanquish Soul engine!
Caesar Valius might carry protection!
And the in-archetype tools can come out at Quick Effect speed in the opponent's turn!
That makes for a completely different set-up potential!
What's more!
Those two big Synchros on board—
their effects are no joke!
Breaking through on Blue Side became absolutely critical!
D-blue-side Duelist: "Interesting! Too strong!"
D-blue-side Duelist: "I activate the Spell 'Dark Ruler No More'!"
"All your monsters' effects are negated! Your Baronne can't negate—mad yet?"
"Heh heh heh!"
"Next I Normal Summon 'Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner'!"
"Activate Lumina: I discard 1 card to revive 'Lumina, Twilightsworn Shaman'!"
"Overlay the 2 for an Xyz Network!"
"Rank 3 Xyz! 'Xyz Armor Torpedo'!"
"I activate Armor Torpedo: detach 2 materials to draw 1 card!"
"I activate the Spell 'Monster Reborn'!"
"I revive the 'Divine Monster' from the Graveyard!"
"Return once more to the field, uncle! 'Obelisk the Tormentor'!"
"Activate the Graveyard effect of 'The Revived Sky God': I banish it to place 'Monster Reborn' on top of the Deck and then draw it!"
"Keep going—'Monster Reborn' again to revive the second 'Divine Monster' from the Graveyard!"
"Descend—'Slifer the Sky Dragon'!"
"I activate 'Eldlich the Golden Lord' in the Graveyard! I send the Field Spell to the Graveyard to add it to my hand, then Special Summon it!"
"There are three Level 10 monsters on my field!"
"I construct a Chaos Xyz Network!"
"I use Obelisk! Slifer! Eldlich! all as Xyz Materials!"
"Number C9—'Chaos Dyson Sphere'!"
"I enter the Battle Phase and attack your Rock with Chaos Dyson Sphere!"
"I activate Chaos Dyson Sphere: gimme that!"
"Make your Rock my material!"
"Then Main Phase 2!"
"Xyz Change! 'Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder'!"
"I activate ZEUS: detach 2 materials!"
"Send every card to the Graveyard except ZEUS!"
"My turn is over!"
A collective gasp!
Every Duelist stared, dumbstruck, at D-side's key line to break the board!
When he summoned two Divine Monsters,
they all thought he'd use Obelisk to blow away all of the opponent's cards again!
But when that Eldlich popped up at the end—
and then he built the Rank-10 Xyz Network—
Duelists from ZEXAL and DM were all stunned!
Kite Tenjo and Yuma Tsukumo were slack-jawed because—
someone actually used monsters as materials to make a Chaos Xyz monster,
instead of using a Rank-Up-Magic!
Yugi Muto, Seto Kaiba, Maximillion Pegasus, etc., were stunned because—
he actually used Divine Monsters,
and two of them,
as material fodder
to make an Xyz that's nowhere near as classy as a Divine Monster!
Even though, in the end, he did wipe the opponent's monsters!
The problem is!
Those are Divine Monsters!
The Egyptian God Cards!
You just Xyz'd with them like that?
Didn't even blink!
Marik couldn't help but twitch at the corner of his mouth.
A Duelist like this will incur the wrath of the Gods, you know!
A-side Duelist: "My turn! Draw!"
D-blue-side Duelist: "I activate 'Maxx "C"'!"
A-side Duelist: "I'll play through 'Maxx "C"' anyway!"
A-side Duelist: "I Normal Summon 'Satellarknight Altair'!"
"Effect to pull 'Satellarknight Vega' from the Graveyard!"
D-blue-side Duelist: "Activate ZEUS! Detach the last 2 materials!"
D-blue-side Duelist: "Send all your monsters to the Graveyard!"
A-side Duelist: "You think that's enough?"
A-side Duelist: "I activate the Continuous Spell 'Tellarknight Constellation'!"
"I Special Summon 'Satellarknight Deneb' per its effect!"
"'Constellation' in the Graveyard triggers to Special Summon itself!"
"I overlay the 2 monsters to build an Xyz Network!"
"I Xyz Summon 'Tellarknight Constellar Caduceus'!"
"Then Caduceus's effect ranks it up into 'Constellar Pleiades'!"
"I activate Pleiades: detach 2 materials to bounce your ZEUS!"
"I set 2 cards!"
"My turn is over."
B-blue-side Duelist: "My turn! Draw!"
B-blue-side Duelist: "This time—I can finally develop, right!"
"I Tribute your Pleiades to give you a big present!"
"'Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju'!"
"If 2 or more cards are in the same column, I Special Summon 'Mekk-Knight Indigo Eclipse'!"
A-side Duelist: "Oh? Wanna go off?"
A-side Duelist: "Did you forget the Trap I retrieved earlier?"
"Activate Trap—'Summon Limit'!"
B-blue-side Duelist: "I Chain the Quick-Play Spell 'World Legacy's Memory'!"
B-blue-side Duelist: "I can Special Summon 'Mekk-Knight Yellow Star' from the Deck!"
"Its effect is—"
"I can banish 1 'Mekk-Knight' from my Graveyard, then target 1 Spell/Trap in the same column as this card; destroy it."
A-side Duelist: "Hahaha! Too bad!"
A-side Duelist: "Your Indigo is blocking the spot!"
B-blue-side Duelist: "Oh? Sore wa dō kana?"
B-blue-side Duelist: "Ever heard of positioning in Yu-Gi-Oh!?"
"I Chain Indigo Eclipse to move 1 column over!"
"Now Yellow Star is in the same column as your Summon Limit."
"Destroy your Summon Limit!"
"I activate the Continuous Spell 'World Legacy Key'!"
"On activation, I return my banished 'Mekk-Knight Green Horizon' to my hand, then I Special Summon it."
"I Link Summon with 3!"
"Arrows confirmed!"
"Link-3! 'Mekk-Knight Spectrum Supreme'!!!"
"I enter the Battle Phase!"
"Gameciel swings! Take 800 LP!"
"Turn end......."
Dueling! With positioning?
Seeing this,
every Duelist was stunned!
What's with this Mekk-Knight Deck?
It can even play like this?
Make monsters shift columns,
to help enable combos!
Since when—
to play Duel Monsters—
do you have to understand positioning?
"The higher-plane Decks just get harder and harder to read!"
"Yeah! Dueling this deep? You need positioning now?"
"Whew—Mekk-Knight, huh? I'll remember this Deck!"
"But the effects are solid! At least the floodgate was destroyed!"
Duelists in the chat immediately launched into discussion.
That positioning sequence—
was truly a flex.
It was the first time they realized:
to pilot a Deck,
you have to understand column positioning!
If not for that reposition freeing up a column,
'Summon Limit' wouldn't have been destroyed!
C-red-side Duelist: "My turn! Draw!"
C-red-side Duelist: "I Special Summon 'Vanquish Soul Panthera'!"
"Use Panthera to Link into 'Rock of the Vanquisher'!"
"Rock's effect to retrieve Caesar Valius from the Graveyard!"
"I activate the Spell 'Stake Your Soul!'; reveal an in-archetype monster to Special Summon 'Vanquish Soul Razen'."
"I then pay half my LP to Special Summon 'Amorphage Goliath'; choose Razen to make its Level 3!"
"I return Razen to hand and Special Summon Caesar Valius!"
"8 + 3 = Level 11!"
"'Psychic End Punisher'!"
"I enter the Battle Phase!"
"I crash my 0-ATK Rock into your Spectrum Supreme; I take 3000 damage!"
"So my LP drops to 1700!"
"At the same time, 'Psychic End Punisher' gains ATK equal to the difference in our LP!"
"So its final ATK is—4250!"
"Lethal swing!"
"Destroy yours; you take 1250!"
"My turn is over!"
D-blue-side Duelist: "My turn! Draw!"
D-blue-side Duelist: "I activate the Spell 'Reasoning'!"
C-red-side Duelist: "I declare Level 10."
D-blue-side Duelist: "Per the effect!"
D-blue-side Duelist: "The last card revealed is 'Scapegoat'—Special Summon the tokens!"
"I set 4 backrow!"
"I Link Summon 'Linkuriboh' using a Scapegoat token."
"I set 1 monster."
"Turn end."
A-side Duelist: "My turn! Draw!"
A-side Duelist: "I activate 'Tellarknight Constellation'!"
D-blue-side Duelist: "Chain Link 2 'Needlebug Nest'! Chain Link 3 'Needlebug Nest'!"
"Chain Link 4 'Scapegoat'! Start resolving!"
"I mill a total of 10 cards from my Deck!"
"I Special Summon 4 Defense Position tokens."
A-side Duelist: "Continuing with my Board-Building v3.1!"
A-side Duelist: "I activate 'Pot of Avarice': I return 5 monsters from my Graveyard to the Deck and draw 2!"
"I Normal Summon 'Satellarknight Deneb' to search 'Satellarknight Unukalhai'."
"Chain Link 2: I activate the effect of 'Constellar Vega' in my hand to Special Summon itself!"
"On Vega's successful Special Summon, I search the Spell 'Satellarknight Skybridge'!"
The familiar development resumed!
The Constellar/Satellarknight resources on the field began rotating again!
Seeing this—
every Duelist felt a thump in their heart!
Is he about to assemble 5 monsters again!
Then make that monster that can slam Valudo into confusion!
But it seemed he only ran one copy!
In the end, he didn't Xyz with all five!
A-side Duelist: "I now have 5 monsters again!"
A-side Duelist: "I overlay 3 to make 'Stellarknight Triverr'!"
"With the remaining 2, I Xyz for 'Tellarknight Constellar Caduceus'!"
"I activate Triverr to detach 1 material and destroy your last backrow!"
"I enter the Battle Phase!"
D-blue-side Duelist: "I activate 'Linkuriboh'!"
D-blue-side Duelist: "Negate your attack, and make your Triverr's ATK become 0!"
A-side Duelist: "Main Phase 2!"
A-side Duelist: "I upgrade Triverr into 'Stellarknight Constellar Diamond'!"
"And I upgrade Tellarknight Constellar Caduceus into Constellar Pleiades!"
"My turn is over!"
On the Duel board—
Red Side once again seized the advantage!
Blue Side looked like it had plenty of resources,
but in truth the conversion rate was low!
Scapegoat Tokens can't be used for Tribute Summon!
Which means only Link Summons are possible!
And the turn—was passing to B-side Duelist…
