Chapter 39
Lily's POV
My screams fell into the cold night air, but no one came. My heart thudded painfully as Lucien pinned me to the ground, reeking of alcohol and arrogance. His disgusting grin made bile rise in my throat. I kicked, punched, anything to get him off me. My wolf raged within, clawing to the surface, but I was too weak to shift.
Then, by some miracle, my foot slammed into his groin.
He howled and stumbled back, clutching himself in agony, giving me just enough time to crawl up and attempt a run. I barely made it a few feet before three of his guards blocked my path. One of them slammed me to the ground, my chin scraping against the gravel. Pain radiated through my limbs.
"Hold her down," Lucien growled.
"Let me go!!"
I struggled as hard as I could, but their strength was no match. Lucien's palm cracked across my cheek, then again. My vision blurred. My lips bled. I felt faint. I just wanted to disappear.
