Chapter 68 - First Day of Training

Pov: Eirian

As I opened my eyes, I could feel something nudging me. Still waking up, I could hear the faintest voice calling me.

"Eirian, Eirian..." They sighed, tired of calling me, "You need to get up, the master will get mad."

When I finally realized it was the butler calling out to me, I jumped out of bed. "Ah! Sorry, sorry, let me get going." As I got out of bed, exiting out the door, I turned left, then right, staring out for a moment. When I do, I realize something. Turning back to the butler, my lips twitched, "Where do I go?"

He sighed once more and walked in front of me. "Follow me."

When we made it to the back of the manor, we entered a building which was just as big as the home itself. Off in the distance, I saw Eira and Ael waiting for me, and in front of them was Leuan.

"What took you so long?" Leuan let out a bit of an agitated sigh.

"Sorry, I fell asleep somehow." I let out a worried breath. All he did was look at me for a brief moment, then turned to the others. "Just line up with your folk."

"Yes, of course." After many years of training in the academy, I knew it was worse if I lied or talked back. Knowing this, I just followed as he commanded.

As he observed us, he took a moment to think to himself. When he did, I started to observe the room a bit more. I wasn't able to take it in fully with having to rush in here, but the room... it was massive. The room was open, and the ground was still made of the dirt you would find outside, but the wall seemed to be made of some sturdy concrete. There were different training dummies around as well as weapons lined up against the walls. If I had to guess, Leuan used to train himself.

"Before we get started, I need to know how much you know about the pacts you all made." He let out, arms crossed.

He was met with silence.

"So nothing?" He questioned us once more, uncrossing his hands.

"Honestly, no... we had to figure this out without any connection to the outside world," I answered.

"All we know is that we had to offer a will and that in doing so, our life is now dedicated towards that 'will.'" Ael continued on.

Silence fills the training ground. "So I'm going to need to start from the ground up." He placed his hand on his chin. "Fine, at least this gives me a starting point."

He looked up after thinking for a moment. "Ael, is that right?" Leuan asked.

"Yes, sir."

"Tell me about your stats. What does it read?" Leuan continued.

"Well, it says I am an assassin, I can control and manipulate my blood as well as sense people's blood around me." Ael kept his upright manner and didn't seem to want to joke around like usual.

"I see, I see..." Walking up, he took Ael's hand, lifting it up, and observed his body all around.

"What are you doing?" Ael asked, hesitating a bit.

"Question: What do you think it means to be an assassin?" Leuan stood close, not backing away from him.

"Ummm... I don't know, didn't really think about it. If I had to guess, it would be that we, as different classes, have different abilities. Eira over there carries a sniper, while I have abilities fitted for an assassin." He pointed towards Eira when mentioning her.

"That's half the answer," He backed away from Ael for a moment, finally giving him some space. "Classes indicate how your body will change over time, as well as how you will differ from other classes."

I raised an eyebrow, questioning what he was trying to conclude. "I'm sure you have noticed that you are faster than your friends, correct? Or maybe that you are able to land more powerful and precise blows."

"Yeah..." Ael answered, still unsure of how to reply.

"Well, that is what class helps indicate. As an assassin, you will be faster than others with the class of tank, all the while, a tank will be able to take more damage as opposed to you. The same could go with a marksman; they will have better observation ability than that of a knight, but will lack the ability to hold their ground up close in combat. All the while, a knight is able to do all these things to a decent degree, but not excelling in any of them."

'Huh?' I questioned, 'Did classes really have this much importance? I didn't think much about it until now, but this made much more sense why Amiel was able to take attacks from the corrupted beast, all the while I could barely take any.'

"What about our titles?" Eira said, raising her hand in excitement. Hearing this, I turned my head.

"That is an interesting one. Well, to start off with, everyone gets one, but each one is unique. That is because it is a name bestowed by the goddess herself. All based on your will, of course, so if you don't want many people to know your will, I would recommend not sharing your title." He looked at Eira as she calmed down.

"So you're saying if one finds out your title, they could figure out your will?" Ael asked.

"Yup, but it could still take some time for someone to figure it out, even with your title."
