Pov: Eirian
"Getting away from that topic, just because you have a class, it doesn't mean that you are tied down by that style of fighting." Leuan continued explaining classes. "Some people may have the 'class: tank', but just because they do, doesn't mean they are entirely one. One example being me." He took his sword from his back and placed it into the ground.
Seeing how confused we all looked, Leuan continued, "What I mean is that even though I may be a tank, I am less than just a standard tank you would think of. I fight head-on and use the raw strength of a tank to do so... stacking that with my miracle of course. This is what people started to call a bruiser. Someone who can still do what a tank does and fight in the front, all while still dealing some damage." He walked away from us, his back to us. "For example..."
Upon reeling his fist back, in an open stance with his feet separated, he pushed his fist down into the ground without ever touching it. Dust flew everywhere, and the intense winds made it hard for us to stand.
"What the!" I yelled. I could hear Eira screaming in the back, covering her face with her arm. Ael did the same but was less verbal about it.
Coughing could be heard in the distance. As Leuan walked back towards us, "As you can see, I am much more than just a tank."
"What was that?" Eira asked, flabbergasted.
"My miracle allows me to control gravity around me. Using that with my strength and some precise timing, I can land some powerful blows." He continued. "A standard tank at my level wouldn't be able to produce the same amount of power as I would, but would be able to take more damage than I. On the other hand, I also wouldn't be able to produce the same amount of power an assassin or a knight would at my level. This is the trade for being more than just a 'tank' and exactly why we as a society take this into account when reading stats."
Stunned in silence, I found it hard to get out my next few words, 'This monster... I have been with him all day without even realizing he could do all this. I thought he was powerful simply because he was a high rank, but to know it was more than just that... It's his miracle as well.'
"What about your second miracle?" Ael asked.
Leuan looked at him for a moment, humming, "Well, that's a secret." He laughed, dodging the question as he turned away, looking where he was just at, then turning to the butler who led me here, "Anyways, Cedric, how are you feeling?"
The butler was now only in his white button-up shirt, rolling up his sleeve, he said, "Yes, just making sure I don't get dirty."
We circled around Cedric as he stood scanning us, all while Leuan watched from afar as he held a bottle of liquor in his hand. "I don't want you to hold back. This is a test. Not only a measure of your strength, but also how well you can use your miracles. Also, do not be fooled by how old he looks; he is rank 3, so do not think this will be easy. You will have 2 minutes. If you cannot land an attack within those two minutes... well, let's just say you don't want to find out." We all started getting ready.
Having a sword on my waist, which I borrowed from Leuan, I unsheathed it. Getting into my stance, I held my right foot forward and my left foot back with my sword pointing at the butler.
Off to my left, Ael formed daggers back in his hands, as Eira manifested her sniper. When they do, I could see Leuan's eyes shimmer. Seeing the control Ael had in his miracle and the weird manifestation of Eira's weapon grew his curiosity about what else they could do.
"Come on, what are we waiting for?" He questioned.
Ael glanced over at us, then nodded to give us a signal. Reacting to it, I delve in, trying to get close to Cedric. Ael wrapped around him, attacking him from a different angle. As we did so, Eira shot, covering us, making it easier to go in. Having my sword come from below, I swung upwards, but he didn't do much to dodge it. All he did was a small, simple movement, enough to get him out of my sword's path.
When doing so, Ael formed chains connecting the two daggers and threw one at Cedric's head from behind as he was mid-air. Cedric dodged as if he had eyes on the back of his head. Seeing this, he didn't miss the opportunity to punish him and grabbed the chain. When he did, he yanked it, throwing Ael towards me, sending both of us flying. "How lousy." The butler let out.
As the blades and chains are dispelled, blood is scattered on the battlefield.
A shot rang near Cedric as he dodged once more. Realizing where it was coming from, he walked up to her slowly. She kept shooting, trying to hit one off, but all missed as Cedric stepped off the side of each one. Almost as if he phase-shifted to a different spot. As he got closer and closer, Eira seemed to get more and more worried.
Using this chance to get behind Cedric, I used Light's Edge to enhance my sword and slash it across, just for him to disappear out of my line of sight. Upon feeling a finger touch the side of my head, I am sent across the room.
Eira, trying to reposition, ran further back as his astral projection watched behind her. Without realizing it, Cedric appeared in front of Eira, looking at the astral projection. She stood there, stunned by what had just happened. When her mind finally realized, she jumped back, trying to get off a shot, but before she could, she was sent flying.
Ael, trying to stop her from hitting a wall, caught her. "Thank you," she let out. He nodded.
As I got up from the rubble, I didn't feel much of the pain because of adrenaline, but the bruises that I was going to feel for days showed on my arms. Using the sword to lean on, I get ready for another attack.
Seeing Ael in the distance, he sent off a barrage of attacks with what seemed like a scythe, which he formed with his blood. Cedric dodged each one of them without much effort. As Eira tried to cover him, I made a desperate attempt to get close once more.
Running in, I sent off slashes of light using Light's Edge. Cedric, turning his head, noticed me coming in and moved to a more open place. Knowing I could not let him get away, I pushed myself, trying to dash in faster than before.
Once I got close, I swung my sword across, as Ael brought his scythe down from above and Eira shot from afar. Before we could realize it, gravity took over, and we all fell to the ground. Ringing goes off in the distance, and the only ones left standing are Leuan off in the distance and Cedric within an arm's length away, "Time is up, maybe next time you will land an attack."
