Cool wind brushed over Jayden's skin, and the distant sound of birds echoed all across the sky. The gushing yet harmonious sound of a waterfall filled the space.
*' Am I really still in a cave with all this cool wind blowing around?'* Jayden rubbed his eyes as he rose from amongst the grass.
Around him was a thriving forest — lush green plants, tall trees, and a peaceful ecosystem breathing quietly in every direction.
"Where am I?" Jayden whispered. His gaze drifted from the blue skies to a flock of birds, then to the nearby waterfall.
Certainly not the hot, oozing cave he had been in just minutes ago.
"Hey, Kami!" Jayden called out.
"Kami...!"
Still no reply. Either the dragon was sleeping, or Jayden was alone.
Jayden heard the sound of splashing water behind him, but he didn't turn immediately.
The otherwise harmless sound sent shivers down his spine. It came in a specific rhythm — steady, deliberate, wrong.
