And for one terrifying second…
Raya didn't know whether she wanted him to stop.
Or to close the distance.
Her breath trembled in her chest, shallow and uneven, every nerve in her body screaming awareness as Adrian hovered there, too close, too calm, too in control.
Then..
Before she could form a single thought, before panic or anticipation could win.
Her feet left the floor.
"What...!"
The world tilted violently.
The next second, her body hit the mattress with a dull thud, the force bouncing her slightly against the sheets. The bed dipped beneath her weight, soft but unforgiving in how sudden it all was.
Raya gasped, stunned.
"What the hell is wrong with you?!" she shouted, pushing herself upright, fury exploding through the shock.
Adrian stood a short distance away, completely composed.
"I held you," he said evenly. "Like you wanted. And I made sure you didn't fall."
She stared at him.
Held her?
Thrown her onto the bed was what he called holding?
