Chapter 26 - Chapter 26

Author's POV

While the young ones searched for the truth, far away, in a distant place, there lay an island cloaked in darkness. Trees stood almost bare, stripped of green, their dead leaves scattered across the ground. Houses lined the paths, but no sound of life came from within them—silent, abandoned, as if frozen in time.

Further away, towering over it all, was a manor. Larger than Immortality University itself, yet darker than the word sinister. In the great courtyard, the inhabitants knelt, shackled, heads bowed. They were trembling.

From the manor, a man appeared, whip in hand. His presence alone made the air heavier.

Man: "So… vermin. Who dared destroy the Supreme's golden statue?"

Everyone shivered with fear. Then, with trembling courage, a young woman raised her head.

Woman: "Master Connor, we didn't do anything… please, spare us."

She begged with tears in her eyes.

Connor studied her, then gestured for his men to pull her to her feet. He walked toward her slowly, his steps heavy with menace.

Connor: "Julia. You know the consequences of defying me, don't you?"

Julia lowered her head, crying, shutting her eyes tightly as his hand struck her across the face. The courtyard fell into a deadly silence—the slap echoed like thunder. No one dared move. He was the right hand of the Supreme. To defy him was to invite death.

Connor: "I'll ask again. Who destroyed the golden statue?"

No one answered. He motioned for his men to throw Julia back into the crowd.

Connor: "Ungrateful wretches! You were given shelter, and this is how you repay the Supreme? Consider yourselves lucky he even took you in when you are nothing but abominations of nature."

He pointed directly at Julia as he spoke. His words struck harder than his whip.

For most of them were hybrids—just like Julia. Shelter, as he called it, meant slavery. Children above five years of age were forced to labor as adults. Women spent their days cleaning, cooking, serving guests. Men guarded the borders for days without rest, dug endlessly in the mines, or fought as warriors—dying for the Supreme when ordered. There was no school, no education, only servitude.

This cursed place was known as the Island of Hell—Hasrland.

Connor: "Let this be a lesson for all of you."

He drew a silver blade and plunged it into Julia's heart. Her scream tore through the courtyard. Her parents collapsed into grief, sobbing helplessly. Her father tried to remain strong but failed, breaking down as guilt consumed him. Her lifeless body fell to the ground, her mother's cries piercing the silence.

Connor: "Now. Tell me. Who destroyed the golden statue?"

Ah yes—the golden statue. It was a statue of the Supreme's mother. It had been destroyed the night before, and the Supreme's rage had been merciless ever since.

The crowd remained silent. Connor's lips twisted into a cruel smile.

Connor: "So be it. Warriors, watch them carefully. Not a single one eats until I say so. Is that clear?"

The warriors bowed their heads in agreement. Connor turned and walked away. But before he could leave, a soldier hurried up to him.

"Master Connor." said the soldier

"What is it? "

He spoke with icy irritation.

"The prisoners… they still refuse to talk."said the soldier

"Just like these useless inhabitants. " said Connor

"But… we noticed something. Master Félix ordered us to inform you Master Connor " said the soldier

"What!?" shouted Connor

"One of our prisoners… escaped." said the soldier

Connor's face darkened with fury.

"What? Since when?" asked Connor

The soldier bit his lip before answering.

"It seems… she left last night." replied the soldier

Connor nearly exploded.

"Damn it! And you didn't notice until now?" shouted Connor

"I'm sorry." said the soldier

"Pathetic. Félix that bastard he was charged with watching the prisoners, and already he failed. " said Connor

The soldier lowered his gaze. Though Félix held the same rank as Connor, the latter's authority and strength were undeniable. Connor stormed away, fury in his every step, heading for the Supreme's office. He couldn't believe Félix, the one he had trusted the most, had failed so miserably.

At last, he reached the top floor, where the Supreme resided. Taking a deep breath, he knocked.

A cold voice echoed from within.

"Enter." said the cold voice of Supreme

Connor stepped inside and bowed deeply.

"Supreme." saluted Connor.

"Who destroyed the statue?" asked the Supreme

His voice was sharp and merciless.

"Forgive me, Supreme. We haven't found the culprit. The inhabitants refuse to speak… as do the prisoners." said Connor

"Do you have any leads?" said the Supreme

"Yes, Supreme…" said Connor

He hesitated.

"Speak." ordered the Supreme

"It appears one of the prisoners escaped last night. She might be responsible for the destruction of the statue. But… we don't know who she is." said Connor

The Supreme's expression hardened.

"Find her. By any means necessary. And kill her." ordered the Supreme

Connor bowed and left at once.

Alone, the Supreme rose and walked to the window. From there, he could see the broken remains of the golden statue. His hands clenched into fists, trembling with anger.

"Mother… I will find the one who did this. I swear it. She will pay dearly, just like the three Powers. This is Immortel's promise to you—your son Im." said the Supreme

The Supreme Im was a hybrid himself, yet he despised all others of his kind. His hatred for sorcerers, werewolves, and vampires ran deep, for he believed they were responsible for his parents' deaths.

But his ambitions reached further. In the supernatural world, his goal was clear: to become the King above all creatures. To reign supreme over every being of power.

According to ancient law, the coronation of Harmony's prince—Prince Junior—would take place on Hasrland itself. By the peace treaty, all supernatural species were required to attend: sorcerers, werewolves, vampires, all gathered in one place.

And for the Supreme Im, this was the perfect opportunity. A chance to destroy the three Powers once and for all.

On the day of the coronation, he would strike. And when he did, his enemies would fall, leaving him the strongest of all.
