----------------------------------------------------------

King admitted it.

Emiya was persuading her.

More than ten years of youth wasn't a trivial matter.

If she were in Mai Shiranui's position, and knew the future, King knew she would feel compelled to speak up.

At the very least, she would want to ask whether Mai truly wanted to spend over a decade of her life waiting for one man.

"Why does Andy keep avoiding marriage?" King asked.

The most important question.

"Does he really not like Mai?"

Emiya shook his head.

He pulled over a chair, crossed his legs, and sat down.

"As for whether Andy likes Mai Shiranui, the answer is simple."

"He does."

King frowned slightly.

"Then why won't he marry her?"

"Well..." Emiya paused.

"Liking someone and marrying them aren't the same thing."

"You can't mix them up."

"Liking someone doesn't automatically mean you're ready to get married."

"Maybe Andy just isn't mentally prepared yet."

"Not even after more than ten years?" King found that hard to accept.

"That's not something I can answer," Emiya said, changing his posture.

"I'm not Andy."

"I don't know what he's thinking."

"Maybe he was ready at some point."

"But something unfortunate happened, and things never reached that step."

"Unfortunate?" King asked.

"What kind?"

"I don't know." Emiya shook his head.

"Then what's the point of seeing the future?"

"You're overestimating me," Emiya said, snapping his fingers.

"The future I can see is only one possibility."

"The real future is always changing."

"Every choice made now can change it."

"Take you, for example."

"Me?" King pointed at herself.

"In the future I saw," Emiya said calmly,

"you're still single."

"Just like Mai."

"But if you went to Ryo Sakazaki right now, confessed, and then slept with him-"

"The future would change instantly."

King's face turned red.

"Who would do something like that?"

"Then you'll stay single," Emiya said helplessly.

He had already told her the outcome.

She still didn't want to act.

There was no helping her.

Not long after, the two left the warehouse and returned to the bar.

Emiya opened the crates, took out the bottles, and handed them to King.

She stored them beneath the counter.

But during the next few rounds of bartending, she was visibly distracted.

Anyone could tell something was on her mind.

Mai Shiranui noticed as well.

She said something to Kasumi Todoh, then quietly approached Emiya.

Lowering her voice, she asked,

"What did you and King talk about?"

She had seen them leave together.

And when King came back, something was clearly off.

Emiya smiled.

"Nothing much."

"I just told her that in a bit more than ten years, she'll be just like you."

"Still single."

"And a famous old maid."

Mai Shiranui: "..."

"Are you serious?"

She already thought her own situation was miserable.

She hadn't expected someone else to be just as bad.

"Actually," Emiya added,

"it's not just you."

"Yuri Sakazaki is in a similar situation."

"I've noticed that anyone who joins your Women Fighters Team seems cursed."

"They just can't get married."

Mai Shiranui immediately decided she didn't want to talk to Emiya anymore.

Kasumi Todoh, who had wandered over out of curiosity, froze in place.

At that moment, only one thought filled her mind.

Is it too late to quit the New Women Fighters Team?

She wrestled with that thought all night.

And it was still bothering her the next morning.

"Kasumi, didn't sleep well?" Mai asked at breakfast.

"You look awful."

"Are you nervous about the KOF tournament?"

Kasumi hesitated, then spoke carefully.

"Sister Mai..."

"Is it true that members of the New Women Fighters Team won't be able to get married in the future?"

She was still young.

Even without a boyfriend, she didn't want to be single forever.

Mai Shiranui froze.

King, who had been calmly eating her bun, suddenly found it tasteless.

Kasumi looked at Mai with genuine worry.

For a moment, Mai didn't know how to comfort her.

She was furious at Emiya.

King hesitated, then asked,

"Mai... can Emiya really see the future?"

"In a sense," Mai said helplessly.

"Yes."

King's expression darkened further.

Was she really destined to be single?

That was too cruel.

Mai put down her chopsticks, patted her face, and said,

"Don't worry."

"The future isn't fixed."

"As long as we're brave enough, we can change it."

King nodded slowly.

"He did say that."

"Every action affects the future."

"Every turning point creates a new possibility."

Kasumi let out a visible sigh of relief.

"Thank you."

"I'll definitely try to change my future."

King encouraged her.

"Then let's work hard together."

"Let's change this awful future."

Mai nodded firmly.

"That's right."

"Let's change it."

"And hopefully the future won't be even worse."

King gave a wry smile.

"Mai, that last part was unnecessary."

...

In the group chat, Emiya typed:

"Invitations secured."

"Calling the other teams."

"What's your status?"

Loki sent a picture.

"See?"

"Invitation's in hand."

"We're already registered."

"Just waiting to fight."

Hayato Fūrinji sent one as well.

"Same here."

Emiya tagged the others.

"@Shizuka Hiratsuka @Hephaestus, how about you two?"

Shizuka replied.

"We cleared the Tokyo preliminaries."

"We're in the semifinals now."

"Fighting for the last slot."

Hephaestus added.

"I thought it was being broadcast."

"Didn't you watch?"

"No," Emiya replied.

"I'm not interested in non-official matches."

"...Alright," Hephaestus said.

"Whatever."

Shizuka scoffed.

"You really look down on the preliminaries."

"Not afraid I'll beat you senseless later?"

Emiya replied calmly.

"I'm not."

"As long as you can break through CĂş Chulainn and Heracles."

"I'll let you hit me without fighting back."

"You said it," Shizuka replied immediately.

"@CĂş Chulainn."

"If we meet, can you forfeit?"

"Well..."

"You should understand," Shizuka continued,

"if I don't get married in the future, I might become your Master's official wife."

"You know how powerful a woman's words are, right?"

"...I understand," CĂş Chulainn replied.

"I'll forfeit."

Emiya sent several laughing emojis.

"Are you cursing yourself now?"

Shizuka sighed.

"After hanging out with you people for so long..."

"I'm losing interest in normal men."

"The gap is just too big."

To be honest, she felt a sense of crisis.

Loki chimed in.

"You're not wrong."

"Natsume."

"Gin Dojima."

"JĹŤichirĹŤ Yukihira."

"Finn."

"CĂş Chulainn."

"Heracles."

"They're all exceptional."

"Compared to them, ordinary men really do feel underwhelming."

"Exactly," Shizuka said.

"I feel like I might actually end up with Emiya."

"But then I remember he wants a harem."

"And I'd just be one of many."

"Oh god."

"Just kill me."

She genuinely looked like she wanted to disappear.

Loki replied cheerfully.

"You can always stay single."

"Like me."

Hephaestus followed.

"Same here."

Hestia added.

"That's right."

"You can choose to be single."

Shizuka Hiratsuka: "..."

Were these goddesses mocking her?

At that moment, Takashi Natsume finally spoke up.

"You're gods."

"You're telling a human to stay single?"

"That's cruel."

"Humans long for love."

Hephaestus rolled her eyes.

"Gods long for love too."

Loki agreed.

"Exactly."

"There are plenty of married gods."

"And plenty of single humans."

"For example, Ais and Riveria."

"They're single."

"And happy."

Riveria finally spoke.

"I'm an elf."

"Thank you."

She really didn't want to be dragged into this.

Emiya sighed.

"Putting Riveria aside," he said,

"didn't you force Ais to stay single?"

"You even prevented other men from getting close to her."

"When I think about it now, I feel guilty."

"Ais has to be mine!" Loki replied instantly.

Hephaestus's eyes lit up.

"I think I get it."

"This has something to do with Hestia, doesn't it?"

Hestia appeared.

"What does this have to do with me?"

She was completely confused.

Hephaestus continued,

"I was thinking."

"If the Nasuverse is an anime."

"And KOF is a game."

"Then is our world also a story in Emiya's world?"

Emiya smiled bitterly.

So they finally figured it out.

"Yes," he replied.

Hephaestus turned to Loki.

"You've read it, haven't you?"

Loki: "..."

Emiya added,

"Yes."

Hephaestus pressed on.

"You're nice to Hestia because you hurt her in that story, right?"

Hestia froze.

"Is that true?"

Loki finally spoke.

"You can't blame Emiya."

"It wasn't him."

"It was me."

Hestia exploded.

"Loki!!"

"What did you do?!"
