Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Returning to Orario

Haruhi Suzumiya could grant wishes.

Once she used her ability, Kojiro Shinomiya would never fall ill again for the rest of his life.

Not even a cold.

In other words, from now on, his body was completely immune.

To put it more bluntly, even if he had intimate contact with an AIDS patient, he still wouldn't be infected.

After a moment, the light covering Kojiro Shinomiya faded.

He felt better than ever.

As a modern person, he understood exactly what it meant to never get sick again. Without hesitation, he bowed deeply to Haruhi Suzumiya.

"Thank you."

Haruhi puffed out her chest proudly.

This was a reward she had granted herself, and she deserved that gratitude.

After all, one meal in exchange for a lifetime free of illness-

You wouldn't find a deal like that anywhere.

If it weren't for wanting to give Emiya a favor, she wouldn't have been this generous.

"Alright," Emiya clapped his hands, drawing everyone's attention. "The shokugeki is over. We'll end things here for today. I'll send everyone back now."

The match had been short, but everyone had eaten well.

No one objected.

Besides, Takashi Natsume and Haruhi Suzumiya both had school the next day.

Only Loki was dissatisfied.

She hugged Megumi Tadokoro tightly. "No. I want to stay and bond with Megumi-chan."

Emiya could tell she still hadn't given up on recruiting her.

"Loki," he said, "if you want a chef, I recommend Erina. Her cooking is excellent too."

Erina Nakiri stiffened immediately.

Loki glanced at her. "Isn't she your private chef?"

"I also want my private chef to get stronger," Emiya replied.

"No."

"Why not?"

"I can tell just by looking," Loki said flatly. "Her heartfelt intent isn't as good as Megumi-chan's."

Erina's face went pale.

In terms of pure technique, she far surpassed Megumi Tadokoro. But when it came to something as vague and subjective as heartfelt intent, she really couldn't refute it.

"Fine," Emiya didn't push further. "Then I'll recommend her to Hestia."

"That little one?" Loki sneered. "You're in my Familia, yet you're always thinking about her. Don't tell me you're actually in love with her?"

Emiya rolled his eyes.

What kind of nonsense was that?

He didn't bother arguing.

He had offered Erina to Loki. She refused.

So why couldn't he recommend his private chef to Hestia?

She was a proper goddess of the hearth, after all.

If Loki really insisted on opposing it, Emiya would comply. She was still his superior, and he wasn't someone who didn't know his place.

More importantly, there were countless ways to become stronger.

Even outside the Danmachi world, there were many paths available to Erina Nakiri.

And the most suitable world for a chef-

Was the one Emiya had wanted to visit from the very beginning.

Toriko.

A paradise for chefs and food lovers.

Endless delicacies.

And something even more tempting.

Gourmet Cells.

"Fine," Loki said after grumbling. "If you want to give that little one a gift, I won't interfere. Just imagining that her only Familia member came from my recommendation makes me want to mock her endlessly at the next divine gathering."

After complaining a bit, Loki didn't stop him.

She agreed.

In truth, once Loki learned that Emiya could travel between worlds, she understood something very clearly.

She couldn't treat him like an ordinary Familia member.

This man could leave the Danmachi world at any time.

If she pushed him too hard, he could simply go elsewhere to grow stronger.

If their relationship soured, she would lose access to all those other worlds.

And all those endless cute girls.

Loki knew exactly which mattered more.

So when dealing with Emiya, her approach was measured.

Not condescending.

Not indulgent.

From the start, their relationship was one of equality and mutual benefit.

She believed that once they became true friends, it would only become more natural.

With Loki's approval secured, Emiya felt relieved.

He then took everyone and left the world.

First, he sent Takashi Natsume, Nyanko-sensei, and Hinoe back to the Book of Friends world.

Then he sent Haruhi Suzumiya back to her own world.

Finally, he returned with Loki to his world.

Erina Nakiri remained behind.

Before leaving, Emiya asked Erina to prepare a luxurious Rolls-Royce-top-of-the-line.

It was a gift for Loki.

At this point, it was still daytime in Emiya's world.

"Loki," Emiya asked, "we've been gone for over a day. Should we return to the Danmachi world?"

"No."

Loki was still sulking over failing to recruit Megumi Tadokoro. She lay on the sofa, scrolling through her phone, and rejected him without even looking up.

Emiya sighed. "You're not worried about your Familia?"

"Why would I be?" Loki scoffed. "That's my proud Familia."

One of the strongest in Orario.

Even if she disappeared for a month, they would function just fine.

"Alright," Emiya said. "Then stay here. I'll go back and let them know we're safe."

Without waiting for her response, he activated his power.

In an instant, he appeared in the Danmachi world.

Inside the Loki Familia's reception room.

After all, that was where he had left from.

He pushed open the door and stepped into the hallway.

Before he could take two steps, several Familia members noticed him.

A few men he didn't recognize approached, their expressions cautious.

They didn't know him.

And a stranger appearing inside the Loki Familia at night was reason enough to be wary.

"Relax," Emiya said calmly. "My name is Emiya. I'm a member of the Loki Familia. I just joined. If you don't believe me, call Riveria to confirm."

As he spoke, invisible psychic power spread around him, forming a shield.

He wasn't taking chances.

If they attacked first and asked questions later, he intended to be ready.
