Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: A City That Never Sleeps

To prevent the lower world from being destroyed, the gods sealed their divine power and lived like ordinary people.

If they ever learned that there were other worlds where they could act freely without sealing their power, they would go mad and rush there immediately.

At that point, even the Loki Familia wouldn't be able to stand against the combined force of all Orario's Familias.

"Don't worry, Lady Loki. I'm not someone who talks too much," Emiya said calmly.

Seeing that Emiya had taken her warning seriously, Loki finally relaxed. But right after that, curiosity surfaced.

"Emiya boy, what kind of world are you from?"

Emiya didn't hide anything. "A world without magic. And without gods."

"A world without magic and gods?" Loki blinked. "That kind of world actually exists?"

"It does."

"Then the people there must live pretty miserable lives," Loki said with genuine pity.

Emiya felt his world was being underestimated. "If you're interested, Lady Loki, why don't you come see it for yourself? I guarantee it'll surprise you."

Loki thought about it briefly.

Then she smiled.

"I'm interested. Very interested. But I need to inform Riveria first."

"That's fine."

They called Riveria over from the doorway.

"Riveria," Loki said casually, "I'm going to check out Emiya boy's hometown. You and Finn can handle things for now."

Riveria was startled. "Now? Why so sudden? Did something happen? Should I prepare a carriage? Supplies?"

Loki waved her hand. "No need. Emiya boy has a skill that can take me there instantly. I'll be back soon."

Riveria couldn't help but look at Emiya.

She had always assumed he came from the Far East, far from the Labyrinth City.

Instant travel?

Was it space-time magic?

While Riveria was still guessing, Emiya turned to Loki. She nodded.

He snapped his fingers.

In a flash, the world shifted.

The next second, they appeared in Emiya's living room.

"So this is your world," Loki said, looking around. "It's not as backward as I imagined."

"Of course not," Emiya replied. "Even without gods, humans built a brilliant civilization with their own hands."

Then he added honestly, "No offense, Lady Loki, but compared to the cities in my world, Orario is more than a bit behind."

Loki raised an eyebrow. Her interest deepened. "Really?"

"If you don't believe me, I can show you," Emiya said. "But first, can you use an invisibility spell?"

"No problem."

Although the gods had sealed their divine power after descending, the seal was self-imposed.

It could be lifted at any time.

And this wasn't Orario.

Loki released the seal.

Divine power flooded her body like a tidal wave.

She let out a soft moan.

Decades in the human world, and this was the first time she had reclaimed her power.

The feeling was long overdue.

"Invisibility, right?"

She raised her hand.

An unseen force wrapped around Emiya.

He could still see himself and Loki clearly, but in the full-length mirror, there was nothing.

No reflections.

Satisfied, Emiya opened the window with telekinesis.

"Alright. Let's go, Lady Loki."

He lifted himself and passed through the window.

With ten tons of lifting capacity, his own weight was nothing. As for Loki, flight was basic for a goddess.

They rose hundreds of meters into the air.

Night had already fallen.

Below them, a modern city stretched endlessly, illuminated by countless lights.

Wide streets glowed like long, shining dragons. Skyscrapers stood one after another, windows lit like stars. Cars flowed endlessly, crowds moved through bright streets, and steel and concrete formed a vast jungle under electric light.

Even Loki, who had seen countless spectacles, fell silent.

"I didn't expect this," she said softly. "It's not Orario... but it's incredible."

"This is just my hometown," Emiya said. "A third-tier city."

Loki looked shocked. "Third-tier?"

"If this impresses you," Emiya continued, "wait until you see our international metropolises."

Her eyes lit up.

"Then take me."

Emiya smiled. "I'll guide you. You fly."

"Deal."

He pointed.

Loki wrapped him in divine power.

They vanished.

A low boom echoed as a ring of white vapor spread outward.

They had broken the sound barrier.

For a goddess who had lived for hundreds of millions of years, supersonic speed was nothing.

Less than half an hour later, they arrived.

The Magic City.

Hovering high above, they looked down at the Huangpu River. Lights on both banks intertwined, dazzling and endless. Lujiazui. The Bund. Skyscrapers glittered like constellations. Elevated roads carried streams of cars like flowing light.

Emiya spoke with quiet pride.

"Lady Loki, this is one of the most developed cities in our country. Not top three, but easily top five in the world. Over twenty million people live here. Ten Orarios couldn't compare."

Loki couldn't refute that.

Orario thrived because of the dungeon, drawing adventurers from everywhere.

But did it even have a million residents?

Compared to twenty million, it was undeniably backward.

More importantly-

This world had no gods.

Every building was raised by human hands.

"Impressive," Loki said sincerely. "Truly impressive."

Emiya straightened unconsciously.

Then Loki descended toward the ground.

Emiya reacted immediately. "Lady Loki, we should land somewhere empty."

"Why?"

"There are things called cameras. They monitor the city. Appearing out of nowhere would cause panic. And ruin your mood for shopping."

"...Fair point."

She found a deserted corner and landed.

After lifting the invisibility spell, they stepped out into the crowd.

Emiya had never been to the Magic City before, but that didn't matter.

They walked toward the busiest streets.

Loki looked around, eyes narrowing slightly.

"Emiya boy, those glowing things... they aren't magic stone lamps, are they?"

Magic stone lamps were one of the proud inventions of that world.

Even the gods praised them.

"No," Emiya said. "They're electric lights."

"Electric lights?"

"One of the greatest inventions of our world," he continued. "Proof that humans conquered the night."

Loki slowed her steps. "You said electricity... is that the electricity I'm thinking of?"

"Yes. Lightning."

Humans had understood lightning. Controlled it. Tamed it.

They turned it into light.

Into power.

Into the foundation of civilization.

Loki laughed loudly.

"Tamed lightning, huh?"

"Thor would be shocked if he heard this."
