Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Addicted to the Internet

Loki spent some time with the four cosplayers before reluctantly parting ways with them.

Before leaving, the girls invited Loki to hang out again the next day. Loki brushed it off casually.

After they disappeared from view, she spoke with a hint of meaning.

"You're hiding quite a lot from me."

Emiya smiled. "Some things are too troublesome to explain, so I didn't bother. If you really want to hear it, I can explain."

Loki neither agreed nor refused.

"Let's walk while we talk," Emiya said.

She nodded.

Walking beside her, Emiya explained, "In our world, there's a light novel called Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? It tells the story of the labyrinth city of Orario. Many characters appear in it. Including your Familia, Lady Loki."

"Later, it was adapted into a manga and an anime. The characters look exactly like you."

As he spoke, he opened a webpage on his phone, searched for information about the DanMachi world, and handed it to Loki.

With Emiya's explanation, Loki quickly figured out how to use the phone. She began reading the information with obvious interest.

Emiya didn't disturb her and walked quietly at her side.

After a while, Loki raised her hand and shook the phone slightly.

"What's this thing called?"

"A phone," Emiya replied calmly. "Like electric lights, it's one of humanity's greatest inventions."

"Interesting. I want one too."

"No problem. But it needs an internet connection and can only be fully used in our world. If we go back to Orario, many functions won't work. Some basic ones still will, though. It's still convenient."

"Is that so?" Loki said. "Give me your hand."

"Why?" Emiya asked, but he still extended it.

Loki smiled and held his hand.

A few seconds later, she let go and nodded with understanding.

"I see. I get it."

"Buy me a phone. And while you're at it, I want a refrigerator, a washing machine, an air conditioner, an induction cooker, a microwave, an oven, a TV, and a game console..."

She listed appliances one after another.

Emiya froze.

"Holy crap. Mind reading?"

Logically speaking, Loki shouldn't have known what any of these were. She had only just arrived in this world.

Yet she named them effortlessly, as if she was already familiar with everything.

Emiya couldn't help but recall the moment she had grabbed his hand.

"More or less," Loki said casually. "Relax. I'm not interested in your personal memories. I just read some basic information about this world."

Emiya rubbed his temples and let out a helpless laugh.

"Alright."

At this point, there was nothing else he could do.

Some things really were easier to let her read directly rather than explain one by one.

As for her claim that she hadn't read his memories, Emiya believed her. She was a goddess. She had no reason to lie about something like that.

"Let's buy the phone first," Emiya said.

He happened to spot a phone store along the commercial street and led Loki inside.

Loki smiled and patted him on the shoulder.

"Don't worry. You won't lose out. I'll give you a little something in return."

Emiya paused.

Before he could ask what she meant, Loki took three quick steps and entered the store ahead of him.

When Emiya followed her in, Loki had already taken the latest Apple phone from a clerk and was playing with it skillfully.

It was hard to believe that just minutes ago, she didn't even know what a phone was.

Gods really were incomprehensible.

"Pay," Loki said flatly when she noticed Emiya. There wasn't a hint of embarrassment.

This was completely natural to her.

Loki established a Familia and granted Grace to humans and demihumans. In return, her adventurers supported her.

That was how Familias worked.

All Familias in Orario operated the same way.

If you weren't willing to support your god, why would they accept you and grant you Grace?

So when Loki asked for a phone, Emiya agreed almost without hesitation.

He had already received her Grace. Spending some money was nothing.

After paying, Loki officially owned her phone.

Emiya then registered a new SIM card under his own name and handed it to her.

Even a god couldn't resist the internet.

Loki quickly became addicted. She didn't even want to continue shopping.

Watching her walk while scrolling nonstop, Emiya sighed.

He could already see the future.

A future where Loki was completely addicted to the internet.

If Orario ever gained internet access, Loki would probably become a hardcore otaku.

The last angel who descended into human society, got addicted to the internet, and became an otaku...

Gabriel White Tenma.

Top student of angel school.

It was very likely Loki would follow the same path.

The internet was truly a terrifying thing.

With Loki completely absorbed, she lost all interest in shopping.

The two of them soon left the Magic City and returned to Emiya's home.

And when he said "soon," he meant it.

They found an empty spot. Loki grabbed Emiya.

In the blink of an eye, they were home.

It was practically teleportation.

Emiya couldn't help sighing.

Gods with divine power really were absurdly powerful.

They deserved the title.

After returning, Loki refused to let go of her phone even for a moment.

She giggled to herself from time to time, looking completely foolish.

Of course, Emiya only thought that silently.

With Loki glued to the internet, Emiya had nothing to do.

He had originally planned to return to Orario and explore the dungeon.

After thinking about it, he gave up.

He didn't disturb Loki.

Instead, he scrolled through his own phone.

As the night deepened, Emiya unknowingly fell asleep.

...

When he woke up, it was already morning.

Loki was still holding her phone, immersed in the internet.

The phone was plugged into a charger.

She had clearly been awake all night.

Emiya looked at her face.

It was still flushed and energetic, without the slightest sign of fatigue.

Then again...

She was a goddess.

With divine power protecting her, staying up all night was meaningless.

Let alone several nights in a row.

That was what having divine power meant.

Seeing how absorbed Loki was, Emiya thought for a moment.

Then he activated his traversal ability.

In the next second, he arrived in the Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma world.

His destination was obvious.

Erina Nakiri's room.

It was daytime in Emiya's world.

But here, it was night.

Erina Nakiri wasn't in her room. She was probably still at the training camp.

Emiya opened the door and stepped out, glancing around the Tootsuki Resort.

It was massive.

He wandered around for a while but couldn't find Erina Nakiri.

Instead, he ran into a burly man who looked like a fitness trainer.

In reality, he was a master chef.

Gin Dojima.

The highest-scoring graduate in Tootsuki history.

First seat of the 69th Generation of the Tootsuki Elite Ten.

After graduation, he rejected offers from eight hundred famous restaurants nationwide and chose to work at the Tootsuki Resort instead.

It had caused a huge stir at the time.

He was the pinnacle among graduates.

Revered by people like Kojiro Shinomiya, Fuyumi Mizuhara, and Hinako Inui.

This was also the same man who had once told Soma Yukihira directly that Erina Nakiri, with her God's Tongue, would become the strongest monster in Tootsuki history after graduating.

Gin Dojima saw Emiya.

Emiya saw Gin Dojima.

Gin Dojima simply assumed Emiya was a guest and paid him no attention.

There were too many visitors at the resort to recognize everyone.

"Wait a moment."

Just as they were about to pass each other, Emiya spoke.

Gin Dojima stopped and turned.

"Is there something you need, sir?"

"Where is Erina Nakiri?" Emiya asked.

Gin Dojima was slightly surprised. He looked Emiya up and down.

"You know Miss Erina Nakiri?"

"Yes. I've been looking for her but couldn't find her," Emiya said.

Gin Dojima nodded.

"She should be in her assessment right now. If you want to see her, you'll need to wait a bit."

Emiya thought briefly and nodded.

He had originally planned to bring Erina Nakiri back to cook for Loki.

To see whether Loki would grant her Grace as well.

But seeing Gin Dojima, he suddenly changed his mind.

"If I'm not mistaken," Emiya said, "Kojiro Shinomiya is having a shokugeki with Soma Yukihira and Megumi Tadokoro tonight, correct?"

Gin Dojima looked at him in surprise.

"You're very well-informed, sir."

He had deliberately tried to keep this shokugeki secret.

"You could say that," Emiya replied. "I plan to bring a few guests to watch and serve as judges. Will that be a problem?"

Gin Dojima instinctively wanted to refuse.

This was a private shokugeki.

He had no intention of involving outsiders.

Especially strangers with unknown backgrounds.

But just as he was about to speak-

An invisible force covered his mouth.

In an instant, overwhelming terror filled Gin Dojima's heart.
