------------

A few hours ago.

"Ugh..." Gaius groaned and woke up from his unconsciousness.

His fuzzy consciousness gradually became clear, and the world in front of him became sharper. The pain in the back of his head served as a reminder that everything he remembered was real.

"You're awake?"

A voice startled Gaius, and he quickly sat up and instinctively protected his backside.

"I said, why are you covering that up?" Morin said, looking at himself in a mirror.

"Do you think I'm interested in your backside? Come on, can't you be a little more sensible? Am I that kind of person? I'm only interested in beautiful women!"

"You... you..." Gaius backed away. "Who are you?"

"As you can see, right now, I can be you," Morin put down the mirror, looked at Gaius, and smiled.

"Well, how do I look? Don't I look just like you?"

At this moment, Morin was wearing a mask of Gaius's face.

Earlier, he had knocked Gaius out so he could use the equipment he brought from the IRS to copy Gaius's face. Then he let Gaius wake up to see his successful disguise.

Only this way could his next words be more convincing, and only this way would Gaius agree to his deal!

"You..." Gaius's eyes widened.

He felt like he was looking into a mirror!

Aside from the hands and clothes, just looking at the head, they were almost identical!

"Don't bother thinking about it. I just want to show you one thing, and that is, if I want to, I can perfectly impersonate you."

Morin chuckled. "Imagine if I disguised myself as you and then killed the Adjudicator who's about to arrive... Wouldn't that be interesting?"

"What?" Gaius was shocked. He quickly began to think of loopholes in Morin's words.

"But you can't hide me. When they come in, they'll search every inch of the place! This means they'll definitely find something wrong!"

"Are you sure?" Morin smiled, put his hand on a nearby table, and thenļæ½

The table disappeared into thin air!

Gaius: "!!!"

Gaius even reached out to where the table used to be and felt nothing. Only then did he realize that the table had truly vanished!

"Trust me, making a living person disappear is no problem for me either," Morin said.

"...So," Gaius racked his brain for a long time but couldn't find any loopholes, so he finally sighed and slumped to the floor. "What do you want?"

Gaius himself couldn't find a reason why Morin wouldn't kill him!

"Just as I said, I want you to work for me," Morin looked at Gaius. "Join the Templar Knights and fight against the High Table!"

"That's impossible!" Gaius shook his head decisively. "What's the difference between dying now and dying later?"

"The difference between dying now and dying later isn't that big, but what if I can guarantee that you'll survive after you join the Templar Knights?" Morin said.

"You must have heard about that lightning that killed five hundred of the High Table's elites in New York that night, haven't you..."

"That was you??!" Gaius asked in surprise.

Morin smiled without saying a word.

"If that's the case..." Gaius thought about it. "I can join!"

He was going to die either way, so why not agree? At least there was a chance he could survive.

As for whether he would actually keep his promise after agreeing, that was up to him!

Gaius was still harboring some personal intentions.

However, Morin had already seen through his little scheme.

He wanted Gaius to willingly and wholeheartedly join the Templar Knights and serve the organization!

"A verbal promise isn't very reliable, Mr. Gaius..." Morin said as he tore off the mask on his face.

A mask of this quality didn't deserve to be on Morin's face. He felt wronged just wearing it for a little while.

"What... what do you want?" Gaius immediately became wary.

"I know what you're thinking. You're thinking you'll just agree verbally and then go back on your word later, right? You just want to survive for now, right?"

Morin chuckled. "It's a great idea, but I'm not going to let it happen."

"Seriously, do you want to spend the rest of your life in this position, only to be replaced by someone else sent by the High Table when you're old and useless?"

"I don't think you want that."

"So, I'm willing to give you an opportunity, an opportunity to climb to a higher positionļæ½the position of an Elder of the Templar Knights..."

This was the same position Morin had promised Winston earlier.

Morin never said there was only one Elder in the Templar Knights, and he also never said that the position of Elder was as supreme as it was in the High Table!

This was, clearly, just a trick of misinformation.

"...The conditions you're offering are very good, so much so that I'm a little hesitant to believe it," Gaius was clearly tempted.

"Besides, I'm the owner of the Continental Hotel. What right does the High Table have to make me give my position to someone else?"

"Whether they'll do that and whether they have the right to do that is something you already know without me saying it," Morin said. "Being stubborn won't get you anywhere, Mr. Gaius."

"Alright, since you're so stubborn, why don't we make a bet?"

"What's the bet?" Gaius asked.

"The bet is simple. I'll knock you out, but I won't kill you. When you wake up, we'll bet on whether the High Table will take away your authority. I bet they will, and you bet they won't. If I win, you'll join the Templar Knights. How about it?"

"And if you lose?"

"Then I'll just kill you!"

Gaius: "???"

"Do you believe me if I say I'll let you go?" Morin said sincerely.

"Just like thisļæ½if I lose, I will definitely let you go, Mr. Gaius!"

"..." Gaius's eye twitched slightly and he shook his head.

"Then there you go. Since you won't believe me, what's the point of me lying to you?" Morin shrugged.

Just as he finished speaking, Morin looked toward the door.

He heard footsteps getting closer and closer outside.

"It looks like our bet is about to begin, Mr. Gaius," a wrench appeared in Morin's right hand. "Do you want it quick, or do you want it slow?"

"Is there a painless, non-damaging option?" Gaius asked.

"Yes!" Morin replied cheerfully. A sword with an electric arc appeared in his left hand. "This won't hurt; it's just a little numb."

"...I'll take the wrench then!"

Back to the present.

After Gaius finished speaking, Morin appeared out of thin air next to his bed in the ward that had only been occupied by him.

"A pleasure doing business with you, Mr. Gaius." Morin smiled and extended his hand.

"A pleasure doing business with you," Gaius slowly reached out his hand.

They shook hands.
