Chapter 20 - Jin Jiang dissatisfied with Johan Seong

AFTERNOON/NIGHT

Seo Joon was walking through the streets. He looked at his watch and saw it was 6:40 p.m. The reason for his stroll was, of course, to take care of Dog God's business once and for all.

That's right, he'd given up on traveling to another world because of this. The crossing card was there, and there was no rush to go anywhere else for the time being; after all, he felt somewhat uncomfortable leaving things unfinished.

So it would be best to resolve this matter as soon as possible. A few minutes earlier, I had spoken to Ivan Park, telling him I was heading to the gaming hall where we'd met.

A little while later, Seo Joon arrived. The facade was still the same, with the sign half broken, and the faint sound of slot machines escaping through the cracks in the door.

He pushed the door open and entered.

The smell of old plastic, sweat, and burnt electricity hit him immediately. Upon entering, many of his subordinates were already there. At that moment, upon hearing the doorbell, everyone turned around. Seeing Seo Joon, they stopped what they were doing and ran to greet their boss.

Ivan Park, seeing his boss, quickly joined his brother, Hope Park, and walked over to welcome him.

"Welcome, boss!"

"Welcome, boss!"

Hearing Ivan Park's words, the other members of God Dog followed suit and greeted him in unison.

....

Seeing this, Seo Joon was speechless. He couldn't help but think that every day he felt more like a small-time local gangster.

.....

Ivan Park, Hope Park, and the others stood at attention upon seeing him arrive. Seo Joon could see the excitement in their eyes.

The atmosphere was solemn and somewhat silent. At that moment, Ivan Park spoke:

"Boss, everything is ready. Shall we go now?"

"Hmm, well, let's go, the faster the better," Seo Joon replied lazily.

Seo Joon was about to leave when someone stopped him.

"Boss, what are you doing?"

...

Seo Joon frowned and replied, "What else? We're going to the meeting point, right?"

Ivan Park smiled mysteriously and said, "Hahaha, Boss, no need to walk, come with me."

Although dazed and confused, Seo Joon shrugged and followed Ivan Park, Hope Park, and the other God Dog members. Of course, he was in front, flanked by Hope and Ivan, and finally behind the other God Dog members.

As he reached the back of the arcade, opened the door handle, and saw the arcade's rear parking lot, Seo Joon was speechless at what awaited him.

How could he not be? When before his eyes were more than a dozen motorcycles piled up in various colors.

....

Seo Joon was once again speechless. He couldn't understand how, despite being mostly minors, these kids could still afford to buy a motorcycle.

Ivan Park approached a white sports bike and gently stroked it as if it were the most beautiful woman in his life.

....

"Boss, you can borrow my bike. I'll go with my brother!"

"Hmmmm, well, I appreciate it," Seo Joon replied, nodding without hesitation. He wouldn't turn down the opportunity to ride a good Yamaha.

Seo Joon climbed onto the bike, turned the keys, and the next moment...

ROAR

As the bike started, it emitted a terrifying roar, like that of a beast eager to break out of its cage.

Feeling the vibration beneath him and the roar of the motorcycle, Seo Joon was delighted. The next moment,

He pulled the throttle and took off like a rocket, followed by all his subordinates.

...

BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!

BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!

A white motorcycle whizzed down the road, its exhaust roaring like a beast due to the terrifying speed it was traveling at.

WHISTLE

The motorcycle sped by. A girl happened to be walking on the sidewalk, and the air generated by the motorcycle made her scream

"Kyaaaah!"

The next moment, due to the wind unleashed by Seo Joon, the woman's skirt lifted, causing it to ride up, revealing her black lace panties. She let out a yelp of surprise and immediately rushed to unload it, but suddenly...

SWISH

SWISH

SWISH

Another group of motorcyclists sped by, preventing the woman's skirt from falling off. A while after the commotion ended, the dissatisfied woman looked at the horizon, where the motorcycle's headlights were fading.

"Tch, what a bunch of lunatics!" the dissatisfied woman muttered under her breath.

Up ahead, Seo Joon felt the night breeze on his face due to the speed he was traveling. Sensing this, Seo Joon smirked, pressed the accelerator to the floor, and his speed increased, taking off like a kite.

A FEW MINUTES LATER

Seo Jooon and his group arrived at the abandoned building. They turned off their motorcycles and walked to the entrance of the abandoned building.

STEP

STEP

STEP

The footsteps of the crowd echoed throughout the abandoned building. Upon entering, Seo Joon noticed that there were no other members of the Dog God. Apparently, this was only a meeting for the Dog God leaders, implying that those minions were not qualified to participate.

A FEW SECONDS AGO, THE TOP OF THE ABANDONED BUILDING

From the top of the abandoned building, Jin Jang frowned. Dozens of motorcycles had arrived at the meeting point. An endless stream of red lights illuminated the darkness like a swarm of demonic eyes. Seeing this, his frown deepened, and his face instantly turned ugly.

Jin Jang felt the tension in the air, thick and heavy, like before a storm.

Jin Jang crossed his arms. Instinct gnawed at him inside. Maybe today's meeting wouldn't go very well.

It wasn't simple paranoia, it wasn't the usual stress, it was something different. As if something very, very bad was about to happen.

He'd felt that unease for days, but he'd ignored it, attributing it to the weight of the numbers that didn't add up, to the quota he owed Johan this month.

ONE HUNDRED MILLION WON EVERY FUCKING MONTH!

Just thinking about it made his head hurt.

He sighed wearily. Sometimes he thought it would be better to just give up, let Gangbuk waste away in his own misery, and escape. But he didn't know why, but he resisted leaving. Sometimes he missed the old days at K House, where everyone made money and was happy. It's a shame it's all over.

STEPS

The sound of boots echoed behind him. Dominic Min strode forward, frowning. He walked over and patted him on the shoulder.

"It seems Ivan Park and Hope Park have arrived," he said seriously. "But seeing the crowd behind them... I'm starting to doubt they came with good intentions."

Jin Jang didn't respond immediately. His gaze remained fixed on the crowd that had entered the building.

After a few seconds, he finally spoke.

"I think so too," he said quietly. "Today... things will be very hectic."

A snort interrupted him.

Scott Kwon approached with a mocking smile and a cigarette between his lips.

"Hmmmm. I wouldn't be surprised if that fat bald guy rebelled," he said sarcastically. "He probably can't stand how miserable Dog God has become."

Jin Jang didn't refute him. After all, even though Scott was an impulsive idiot, he wasn't entirely wrong. Dog God was just too miserable. If Johan weren't an invincible, terrifying monster, everything would have gone to hell.

There wasn't enough money!

Morale was rock bottom!

And Johan... that son of a bitch Johan kept demanding the monthly fee nonstop.

"One hundred million won a month, and all legally..."

"What kind of joke is that?"

It was impossible unless they sold organs or robbed banks; there was no way they could come up with that amount as students.

Johan had made it clear: he prohibited scams, blackmail, scalping, and counterfeiting—everything illegal. Those things that could keep the ship afloat were prohibited.

And yet, every month he felt himself sinking a little further.

What infuriated him most was Johan's lack of logic. If he wanted money, why not allow illegal business? If he wanted power, why not strengthen the foundations of Dog God?

Nothing made sense.

It was as if Johan was playing a game that only he understood. A game in which everyone else was his dog, so to speak.

When Johan began the unification of Gangbuk, Jin Jang believed in him even when he destroyed his K House team. At first, he didn't feel so bad.

Dog God had been an unstoppable force. Rival gangs like K-House had fallen one after another. Suddenly, Johan's advance, the so-called one-man army of the time, swept through all of Gangbuk at a terrifying speed without any help.

Because of Johan's exploits, I believed that perhaps a unified Gangbuk under the command of someone so strong wouldn't be so bad, but everything changed over time.

First, he banned illegal activities. At first, although there was some resistance, it wasn't much. After all, Johan's strength was there, and no one dared to confront him.

But then everything went downhill when he demanded the absurd sum of 100 million won a month.

Trust was quietly broken; some faces that had once shown loyalty now reflected resentment.

Even those who had initially hoped for Johan completely lost that hope because of Johan's actions.

Times were good when he was with K-House. Jin Jiang couldn't help but yearn for those wonderful days. So in the end, resentment over Johan's new orders and the destruction of his gang led him to plot a rebellion.

Everything was ready. It didn't take long to convince most of the Dog God members—after all, most of them held a certain resentment toward Johan. Everything was ready; the only obstacle in his way was, of course, Johan.

A monster with a human face, a man that even ten men together couldn't defeat.

"They're getting closer," Dominic said suddenly, snapping him out of his thoughts.

Jin Jang looked toward the street. Ivan Park and Hope Park were advancing at the front of the crowd, but what made him frown was the man standing in front of them. It seemed as if Hope Park and Ivan Park were his subordinates.

For some reason, just seeing that man made him feel threatened. He subconsciously recalled that time he saw Johan destroy a gang in Gangbuk that refused to submit to Dog God.

But then he shook his head.

"I'm overthinking it. There can't be another monster like Johan, right?"

After thinking about it, Jin Jang forgot about that man.

"I see, be alert," Jin Jiang replied, but sighed inwardly. He hoped a few words would calm the Park brothers. Jin Jang wasn't an idiot. Ivan Park was strong; unless Dominic Min or Scott Kwon confronted him, no one could stop him. His brother Hope Park was more boisterous.

If they wanted to defeat him, they needed at least two of them to stand up to him.

BACK TO THE PRESENT

BOOM!

Seo Joon kicked the metal door hard, causing the thunder of his blow to resonate throughout the abandoned building. He walked briskly inside, flanked by Ivan Park and Hope Park, followed by at least fifty members of the Dog God.

STEP

STEP

STEP

STEP

Immediately afterward, the Dog God's henchmen surrounded Jin Jiang, Scott Kwon, and Dominic Min in the center of the venue.

Seeing themselves surrounded, the trio frowned in annoyance. Scott Kwon, the most impatient, pointed at Ivan Park and roared, "Ivan Park, what the fuck do you want to do? Are you planning to rebel, you son of a bitch? Aren't you afraid of that monster, Johan?"

...

At the mention of Johan, everyone except Seo Joon felt a chill. Hearing them scold him, Ivan Park's forehead veins popped out in fury, and he pointed at Scott Kwon: "You son of a bitch! What the hell are you talking about? Being afraid of Johan? There's no need for that anymore!"

...

Scott Kwon, Jin Jang, and Dominic Min frowned in bewilderment. Did they hear him wrong? Aren't you afraid of Johan? Did this Ivan Park get kicked in the head by a mule? Or was it because his brain circuit wasn't working properly today?

Scott Kwon was about to say something when Jin Jang reached out to stop him. Seeing this, Scott, although reluctant, stopped.

"What do you mean, Ivan Park? Are you strong enough to beat Johan? Or has all that wrestling has muscled your mind? Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to understand why you talk so much shit."

"...."

Ivan Park was about to say something when Seo Joon took a step forward, holding back the words he wanted to say.

Seeing this, Jin Jang frowned, instinctively tensing his body with great caution.

Seo Joon pulled down his hood, revealing his tanned skin and slightly blond hair, and said, "Well, that's because of me. I'll get straight to the point, Jin Jiang. Give in to me, or I'll kick your ass until you give in."

Jin Jiang: ....

Scott Kwon: ....

Dominic Min: .....

Hearing this, the trio looked bewildered.

What the fuck? Did they hear that right?
