Hazel slowly stepped into the garden, the breeze carrying the smell of fresh grass and the faint laughter of other students. Skylar and Reese were seated on a mat, sunlight glinting off the metal food containers arranged neatly in front of them.
"Oh! Hazel, over here!" Reese called, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Hazel walked over and sat down, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
"What kept you so long? We're already done setting everything up," Skylar said, curiously.
"I... was looking for a book," Hazel replied smoothly. "I couldn't find the one I wanted, so I picked something else."
Skylar nodded.
Reese opened the bowls one after another, releasing the warm scents of homemade dishes. "My cook made all these," she said proudly.
"Your cook?" Skylar blinked. "She cooked all this? Is she human or a cooking machine? Damn, this tastes amazing." She shoved a cookie into her mouth.
