"The boy... " came a deep voice from the corner. Magnus stepped out of the shadows, his expression grim.
"He's a vampire."
Mrs. Frost exhaled slowly, her voice calm but edged with tension.
"Yeah... I know."
"The vampire population at Wexford college is getting out of hand. Will the humans be okay?" Magnus asked, his voice cold.
"They'll be fine if they follow the rules," Mrs. Frost replied, calm as ever. "Mrs. Quinn—who ran things before—couldn't tell vampires from humans. She was human herself and kept admitting anyone who registered. That's why vampires are so numerous here."
"We should warn the vampire students to watch what they do around humans," Magnus said darkly. "Those who can be compelled should be. Those who can't..." His eyes went colder.
"Should be dealt with."
"Are there still humans that can't be compelled?" Mrs. Frost curiousity was mild, but sharp.
