"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 239: Killing Blow Before the Maou

Sirzechs watched the arena, a resigned smile tugging at his lips. Draconis Yi wasn't holding back—not tonight.

This whole event was a dress rehearsal for the newcomer Rating Game. The rules were loose, the stakes high, and Sirzechs knew better than to interfere. He could only sigh inwardly. This kid really knew how to stir up trouble.

"Let's just watch. It'll be fine," he said lightly, as if the outcome was already in hand.

On the stage, Zephyrdor had abandoned all pretense. Forced into a corner, he'd lost everything but his pride. Draconis Yi had mocked him, crushed his Peerage, humiliated his family. Whether he fought or fled, the shame was already public.

So why not go out swinging? If he was destined to be the laughingstock, maybe killing this arrogant bastard could salvage some dignity.

Zephyrdor's magic erupted—deep violet flames swirling into a vortex around him. Among ultimate-class devils, he was a standout, far stronger than Rabiou. But he wasn't about to underestimate Draconis Yi, who'd just one-shotted Rabiou without breaking a sweat.

"Listen up, punk! You have no idea what noble blood means. I'll pound you into the dirt—then I'll kill you!"

All pretense of refinement gone, Zephyrdor's voice was pure street thug.

Draconis Yi's reply was calm, almost bored. "Bold of you to finally step up. Bite down hard—because I'm done pulling punches for spoiled brats like you."

He advanced, every step casual, unhurried. It was the ultimate insult—he didn't even see Zephyrdor as a threat.

Zephyrdor snapped, roaring as he shot forward in a blur of magic. But to Draconis Yi, his speed was laughable.

As Zephyrdor closed in, Draconis Yi's fist flashed out—thunderous, precise. The air itself compressed, slamming into Zephyrdor before the punch even landed.

He flew backward like a broken missile.

Blood sprayed. Zephyrdor couldn't believe it—a single punch, and he was sent flying.

On the surface, Draconis Yi's attack looked ordinary. In reality, Absolute Dominion hid the true force: his Regalia Blade amplified his magic twentyfold. No ultimate-class devil could withstand that.

His body and magic had been forged in a constant cycle—physical training, magical tempering, holy-demonic power fused into every cell. Every day, he grew stronger.

The crowd fell silent. They'd expected a battle for the ages. Instead, Zephyrdor was being dismantled.

Refusing to accept defeat, Zephyrdor rose into the air, gathering every ounce of power. A spiral of purple-black magic formed in his hands—enough to level a city. The arena's barriers flared, sensing the destruction.

The magic blast engulfed Draconis Yi. The explosion shook the stadium, waves of energy pulsing out, the stage lost in a haze of darkness.

Seconds passed. The smoke cleared.

Draconis Yi stood exactly where he'd been, not a hair out of place. A silver shield hovered beside him, shimmering with a faint, ethereal glow.

He hadn't even raised a hand.

Zephyrdor stared, horror dawning. "No… this can't be…"

He knew the power behind that attack. But Draconis Yi hadn't budged.

"What… what are you?"

Draconis Yi kept walking, slow and steady. Zephyrdor stumbled back, fear written across his face.

Draconis Yi bent, picking up a pebble from the ruined stage. Magic flowed into it—just like with the silver toothpick. He flicked it forward.

The stone pierced Zephyrdor's heart, a silver thread of magic trailing in the air, one end wound around Draconis Yi's finger.

"Earlier, you sent your Peerage to die for family honor. Now it's your turn. Show me your resolve."

His voice was calm, but the killing intent was unmistakable.

Killing Hermes had been unnecessary—a message, not a solution. But this time, there would be no mercy. Draconis Yi despised those who forced their subordinates to die for pride.

He'd held back before, knowing Sirzechs would intervene. But now? No restraint.

Zephyrdor froze, terror gripping him. Only now, facing death himself, did he understand the despair Hermes had felt.

The wound wasn't fatal—but the magic inside his heart was pure, holy-demonic annihilation.

"I—I'm the Glasya-Labolas heir! You—you dare kill me here? The Maou won't forgive you…"

He bluffed, hoping Draconis Yi would hesitate.

"Is that your last words?"

Draconis Yi's voice was ice. He twitched his finger.

Zephyrdor felt the magic ignite inside him. His face twisted in panic.

"No—!"

Boom.

Magic detonated. Blood mist filled the air.

Zephyrdor's chest vanished, his body split in two, the lower half crashing against the barrier and sliding down, leaving a trail of gore.

The arena erupted in shock. No one expected Draconis Yi to actually kill—right in front of the four Maou.

"Is he insane…?"

This was supposed to be a showcase for the young generation. Everyone thought Draconis Yi was bluffing. But he'd killed the heir of one of the six great houses.

On the viewing platform, Sirzechs smiled wryly. Trouble, as always.

He stood, voice calm and steady. "The match is decided. Get the injured off for treatment. Five-minute intermission."

The crowd: "…??"

Maou-sama, did you misspeak? That's not an injured man—that's a corpse…

Beelzebub spoke up, cold as ever. "Sirzechs, are you covering for that boy?"

Asmodeus yawned. "He really went for the kill. Doesn't think much of us, does he?"

Incidentally, Asmodeus's own family was Glasya-Labolas. Seeing their heir slaughtered, he showed no anger—just mild curiosity.

Sirzechs shrugged. "Don't be dramatic. He left Zephyrdor alive—barely. Just looks messy."

Others might not notice, but the Maou saw everything. Draconis Yi's control was flawless.

Absolute Dominion, indeed.

Asmodeus grinned. "Annoying, but gutsy. My family's kid can't compare."

"Your house found a monster, Sirzechs," he added.

Sirzechs chuckled. "Rias has good taste. There's something you haven't heard—Draconis Yi's power now rivals a Maou."

That silenced the others. Beelzebub and Asmodeus blinked. Serafall just smiled—she'd known all along.

Four Maou, all super-devils, but old. Draconis Yi—barely a year since reincarnation.

A high-class devil with Maou-level power. The implications were staggering.

"No wonder Zephyrdor lost so badly," Asmodeus laughed. "We finally have a super-genius among devils."

"Exactly. Draconis Yi has touched the edge of transcendence. I plan to make him the face of the new generation."

Asmodeus's eyes narrowed. The Underworld's top strategist understood instantly.

"So this was your plan—to put him center stage, force everyone to recognize him…"

Sirzechs nodded. "It was the right choice. He fit the Holy Sword, and every breakthrough brought new surprises. Now I'm just riding the wave…"

This whole tournament was Sirzechs's grand stage for Draconis Yi.

Serafall pouted. "So that's why you sent me to the human world—to explain the newcomer tournament to him…"

Sirzechs smiled. "He got it right away. That's why he's so fearless. I didn't expect it to blow up this big, but I came prepared…"

He produced a small vial.

"Phoenix Tears?" Beelzebub muttered. "You actually traded for those?"

Asmodeus scoffed. "I knew something was up. Fine, I'm on board."

Sirzechs turned to the others. "Beelzebub-sama, Leviathan-sama?"

Beelzebub's face was cold, but he nodded. "A future transcendental genius—I have no reason to object."

With the support of all four Maou, Draconis Yi's position was cemented. From this moment, the entire Underworld stood behind him.

During the intermission, Draconis Yi returned to Rias and the others.

"Draconis Yi… did you really have to kill him?"

Rias's voice was grave. Zephyrdor was the next Glasya-Labolas head—his death, in front of everyone, was no small thing.

Draconis Yi shrugged, utterly unconcerned.

"Relax, Rias. It'll be fine."

He smiled, settling beside her, waiting for the break to end.

Rias watched him, baffled by his calm.

But Draconis Yi understood Sirzechs's game. The Holy Sword, the promotion exam, all of it put him in the spotlight. The risk was enormous—but so was the reward.

If he survived the fire, the honor would be unmatched. His position among the new generation would be unshakable.

He'd figured out Sirzechs's plan in moments. His brother-in-law wanted to keep the glory in the family. With his relationship with Rias secure, why not let the Gremory house shine?

Besides, Draconis Yi's talent silenced all doubters—even Asmodeus couldn't complain.

Not convinced? Find someone better.
