"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 238: Mockery by Might

Draconis Yi's casual provocation drew a whistle from the stands. Devils loved a spectacle, and watching Zephyrdor get roasted was the highlight of their day.

Zephyrdor, heir to the Glasya-Labolas family—one of the six great houses—found himself the butt of every joke. The other noble scions, lips curled in amusement, watched his humiliation with undisguised delight.

Rias, for her part, found Draconis Yi's boldness surprising, but she was all in. Trouble never bothered her; devils lived by strength, and stomping rivals at times like this was just good form.

Zephyrdor's killing intent simmered, but he couldn't set foot in the arena. Status was everything—a King dueling a mere Peerage member would disgrace his entire lineage before a single blow was thrown.

Princess Seekvaira, never one to pass up an opportunity to twist the knife, leaned in with a mocking smile.

"Why not step up yourself, Zephyrdor? That kid—rumor has it he's taken down a Fallen Angel cadre. Your Peerage doesn't stand a chance."

She and Zephyrdor were sworn enemies. He'd made crude jokes about her, even tried to get with her. Seeing him squirm now was pure catharsis.

Her words landed hard. Everyone had heard the story—Draconis Yi defeating a Fallen Angel officer—but most assumed Rias's whole Peerage had helped. Now, it seemed the rumors underestimated him.

Among the assembled heirs, three had already reached ultimate-class devil status. Only Rias and Sona Sitri were still growing into their power. Suddenly, Draconis Yi was no longer just a curiosity—he was a threat.

Draconis Yi, meanwhile, was running out of patience. His voice cut through the tension, cold and unyielding.

"Dragging your feet, Zephyrdor? Is this what passes for courage in the Glasya-Labolas family? No guts, no glory."

The crowd winced. Taunting a house head for lacking the courage to face death? That was a new level of savage.

Rias could only manage a helpless smile. Draconis Yi's trash talk was legendary—he'd never lost a verbal fight, and today was no exception.

In the crowd, a young woman watched him intently—Ravel Phoenix, sister to Riser, who'd once faced Draconis Yi in the Rating Game.

His laid-back, infuriating attitude brought back memories. Her brother had been driven to the brink by this guy. Good thing Riser hadn't come today; just seeing Draconis Yi strut would probably trigger his phobia all over again.

Ever since his defeat, Riser had developed a full-blown Draconis Yi complex—trembling at any mention of his name. Ravel's heart ached for her brother, but watching Zephyrdor stumble toward the same fate, she found herself oddly captivated.

Handsome, she thought, cheeks warming. Back then, he'd scolded her without a hint of deference—so different from the sycophants who bowed at her feet. Now, she couldn't help but find his confidence magnetic.

Zephyrdor, still refusing to enter the ring, became the target of Draconis Yi's next volley. He stood calm and elegant, voice almost gentle.

"If this coward won't step up, let's not waste time. Next challenger, please. Anyone else want my Holy Sword? Beat me, and it's yours."

Face thunderous, Zephyrdor turned to a stoic young man nearby. "Rabiou, go show him what's what. I'll take care of your family's troubles."

Rabiou's eyes flickered. "You mean it?"

"Stop stalling. I said I'll help. Are you in or not?"

Rabiou nodded and vaulted onto the stage.

"Sorry, but my family's struggling. For my sister's sake, I have to fight."

He apologized to Draconis Yi, letting his power surge freely—ultimate-class devil, no noble blood required.

Seekvaira scoffed. "Pathetic. Outsourcing your battles now?"

Zephyrdor shot back, voice cold. "Watch your mouth, woman. One day I'll have you begging."

Draconis Yi eyed Rabiou, brow furrowing before smoothing out.

"Let's get started."

Rabiou attacked, magic flaring. But in the next instant, Draconis Yi unleashed his aura—no restraint, no holding back. The force of his magic made Rabiou blanch.

The Regalia Blade's power amplified his strength; a tidal wave of magic crashed over Rabiou. When the dust settled, he lay unconscious—defeated in a single exchange.

The arena fell silent. No one expected a high-class devil to wield such overwhelming power.

It was Draconis Yi's first time displaying his full strength since his breakthrough.

Behind Sona Sitri, Saji swallowed hard.

"Wasn't he promoted the same time as me? How did he get so scary…?"

Sona herself was stunned, unable to speak.

Draconis Yi turned cold eyes on Zephyrdor.

"I told you—stop sending fodder to die. Are you coming down, or do I need to force another heir change for the Glasya-Labolas family?"

The previous heir hadn't been Zephyrdor; he'd inherited after a mysterious death. Now, Draconis Yi threatened to repeat history.

Zephyrdor snapped, all caution gone. He flashed onto the stage, killing intent radiating.

"You bastard—I'll admit you have skill, but you're not invincible. I'll kill you here!"

His power matched Draconis Yi's, ultimate-class devil to ultimate-class devil.

Up in the Maou's box, the four rulers chatted quietly.

"Sirzechs, you're really going to let them go at it like this?" Serafall tilted her head, voice playful. "From what I know of Draconis Yi, he doesn't bluff. He'll kill Zephyrdor if you don't stop him."

Sirzechs sighed. Today, Draconis Yi's bloodlust was palpable. Zephyrdor's callousness—sending his Peerage to die—had clearly crossed the line. For him, there would be no mercy.
