The sudden vibration of Lily's phone snapped her from her reverie, and she picked it up.
Lily saw that Agent Rylee had sent her a text stating that the audition for her role would take place tomorrow and that she had to do well, or else she could just forget acting in the movie.
Lily quickly responded with "Ok."
She was glad that she had already prepared her clothes and everything before things went astray.
With her current state, how was she going to handle all those things?
After putting on her pajamas, Lily went through her belongings for her script. When she found it, she took it out and began to practice seriously. Luckily, her body was already familiar with acting, and by the time Lily practised the script again and again, she had already gotten the hang of it.
Lily also went online, watching videos and reading blogs to help improve her acting skills, even skimming through a few PDFs.
It was already evening when Lily finally finished reading and practicing the script.
She began to seriously contemplate. Once the movie began, she would return to the Shen family home using the excuse that the Shen family residence was closer to the movie center.
Lily couldn't help but think that if she had to handle another torturous night with a certain male lead, she would fall apart.
Now, whenever Lily claimed that she wasn't interested, Zane Ji would diffuse her claim by saying she was just being shy.
How the hell was Lily being shy? If she had known that the lie would come back to bite her, she would never have said it.
When Lily finished practicing, she washed her face and went down to the kitchen.
Craving noodles, she quickly made some and returned to her bedroom. After taking a bath, she fell asleep.
By the time Lily woke up, it was the next morning.
Not catching sight of Zane Ji made her inexplicably happy.
Lily didn't know if Zane had returned last night or not because she was already fast asleep—but she didn't care. Not seeing him made her mood much better.
Lily put on her clothes and applied her lipstick. She picked up her bag, script, and other necessities before getting into her car and leaving the mansion.
All the cast members for the movie had already been selected, and they would begin their first reading the next day. Officially, filming would begin on Monday.
However, since Lily was only famous for her bad reputation, the strict director wasn't sure about her acting.
Because he owed Agent Rylee a favor in the past, he agreed to accept Lily on the condition that she passed his test.
Lily entered the conference hall where the director and others were waiting.
Director Leo Wang was known for being strict, harsh, and having high standards.
It didn't matter how popular the actor was—if they couldn't pass Director Leo's acting test, they weren't worthy of participating in his movie.
Director Leo was one of those directors all actors feared and admired at the same time.
Only stars with extraordinary talent for acting could enter his vision. All his films were known for breaking box-office records.
In fact, Lily's character didn't have much screen time in the movie, but she was the male lead's friend—an important role.
The male lead's friend was known for her simplicity and cold beauty, yet she possessed extraordinary gentleness and purity. She was the only one sincere toward the female lead despite their differences, because she had once been poor like her.
That was until she realized Lily and the male lead had gotten into a relationship.
Lily wore an ordinary black suit and long pants. Her face was bare of makeup, perfectly matching the character in the movie.
She walked into the audition confidently, bowed to them, and cheerfully greeted, "Hello."
Hearing that sweet voice, the movie's writer raised her head to look at Lily.
Upon seeing the cold beauty standing before her, her heart skipped a beat—completely struck and filled with excitement.
Immediately, a thought came to the writer's mind: It's her.
Her character had come to life. Lily was like the male lead's friend in real life—no, even more beautiful!
All this time, the writer had been worried about that character. She had poured her heart into creating her and didn't want to settle for less. The character was very beautiful, known for her natural grace and purity.
After seeing the faces that came for the audition, the writer hadn't been satisfied and refused to approve any of them. It made her worry that she might never find someone who could portray the character's beauty and spirit.
But upon seeing Lily, the writer couldn't help thinking that even if Lily's acting didn't meet the director's minimum, she would beg him to let Lily play the role.
That face, that body—it was the perfect embodiment of the character she'd imagined.
Director Leo Wang snorted when he saw Lily. He had already reviewed her past acting clips, and none of them had caught his interest.
She didn't even meet a quarter of his minimum requirements.
However, he had no choice but to give her a chance to audition.
"Act 5," Director Wang said coldly, leaning back, showing no intention of letting her use the script.
When the writer heard this, she gasped and turned to him in shock.
In the past, Director Wang had only given previous contestants Act 2 or Act 3 at most. Why was he giving Lily Act 5?
Clearly, he was being difficult on purpose. He didn't want her to pass the test at all.
The writer became anxious. Lily was the perfect person for the character—what if she failed?
"Director Wang, why can't she do Act 1 or Act 2?" the writer asked nervously.
Director Wang harrumphed and looked at her calmly. "What's in Act 1? Just simple actions. If she can't even do Act 5, then she shouldn't even think about participating in this movie."
He looked at Lily and said flatly, "If you can't do Act 5, just leave and don't waste our time."
Lily's eyes flashed, and her fists clenched in determination.
Anyway, she had gone through all the scenes and practiced yesterday. She believed she wouldn't have any difficulties.
"Fine," Lily said.
