You are going nowhere," he said with feigned magnanimity, as if he didn't know what the woman was talking about. He clearly knew that she wanted to leave, but he pretended not to.

Lily nodded her head and wiped the tears brewing in her heart. She gritted her teeth and broke out in a sweat. This was where the real job began. Pain shot through Lily's back immediately when she sat straight, making her groan.
