Chapter 21 - Socialite

Lily's face turned as dark as a pot, and she directed the sharpest, most hateful glare she could muster at Zane Ji, that wicked male lead.

This man must have told her family he was going to serve her breakfast in bed, winning their hearts. Yet this wicked man had used the meal to wake her from sleep, eaten it in front of her, and then told her it was her breakfast in bed.

Was there anyone more shameless than Zane Ji? Lily really wanted to cry.

Her Osmanthus cake. Her sweet Osmanthus cake—Zane had eaten half of it, but left all the vegetables untouched!

"Zane Ji, you really don't have a heart," Lily spat cruelly, on the verge of tears. Her precious meal!

That was the one thing Lily didn't play around with, yet this heartless man... At his home, poor Lily had gone hungry countless times, yet Zane wouldn't let her be even in her own house.

Everyone already knew that Zane Ji had brought Lily breakfast in bed, so how could she go to the living room acting like she hadn't eaten? How embarrassing!

Zane Ji's eyes flickered. Lily was finally breaking her facade and showing her true character in front of him.

In fact, Zane wasn't hungry, but he was unable to resist teasing this woman, so he'd done it on purpose. He straightened his back, his whole demeanor elegant, as if he wasn't the one who had done something so wicked. "If I didn't have a heart, I wouldn't have picked you up at the club and forgiven you."

At that moment, Lily realized something important, and her eyes lit up.

It turned out that Zane still harbored frustration from that night in his heart, but he'd kept quiet and chosen to forgive her. In fact, Zane still had that frustration festering, and once Lily pushed him far enough, Zane was going to lash out at her badly.

At that moment, Lily couldn't help but grit her teeth while thinking that perhaps losing part of her meal was worth this discovery.

With this, Lily wouldn't think her plan hadn't stirred Zane up at all. She could stop believing he was so untouchable.

If she recalled correctly, Zane had said he didn't like pretentious socialites. Hehehe. Well...

Lily's eyes shone with a mischievous glint, and her lips curved up in a devilish smirk. That socialite was exactly what she'd be. From now on, he was going to get tired of her soon!

Lily retracted her gaze and bit her lower lip, her fury already dissipated. She walked back to the bed and sat next to Zane.

Lily sighed gently, held Zane's hands, and placed her head on his shoulder. She purposely spoke in a high-pitched, coquettish voice while punching his arm gently. "Hubby, it wasn't my fault. They made me go there. I know hubby is annoyed, but it's already enough. Look at me—now you've made me unable to walk properly. Hubby, I've already learned my lesson. I won't do it anymore."

Lily's eyes glanced at the meal. Zane had touched everything but ignored the vegetables! Lily's heart filled with mischief and cruelty.

Lily picked up the cutlery, used it to pick up vegetables, and moved the spoon toward his lips. She parted her lips and said coquettishly, "Ah, hubby. Open up."

Zane Ji froze and stared at the woman as if she'd grown horns on her head. Zane had expected the woman to be so infuriated that she'd break her act.

However, Zane hadn't expected that Lily would be more composed than he'd ever thought. He'd underestimated this woman's shamelessness once again. What trick was she playing at?

Upon seeing Zane Ji's expression, Lily's lips curved up, and glee filled her mind; she was extremely satisfied.

It turned out that it really worked. Acting like a white lotus was really the way! It turned out that Lily had been doing it in a not-quite-right way—or not-quite-wrong way either.

Lily's heart filled with joy. She snapped out of her reverie and held Zane's chin while puckering her lips. She coaxed coquettishly, "Hubby, open up. Ah, my arm aches."

Zane's eyes narrowed as he looked at Lily. If he hadn't been the one to bring in the food, and if he hadn't been right there with her, he'd have thought she'd added something to the meal.

A few seconds ago, Lily had been brimming with anger, but in the next moment, she was already feeding him vegetables and calling him hubby.

Zane's eyes flickered. Could it be that Lily didn't like vegetables and, due to her grudge, was feeding them to him?

Zane snapped out of it and ate the vegetables with relish. Then he pushed the spoon back to her. "You should eat. I've already eaten my fill in the dining room."

Upon hearing this, Lily's good mood immediately plunged and her fury flared. If she didn't have good self-control, she would have stabbed him with her fork.

This shameless man had actually eaten his share before he ate hers! Could there be any more shameless man?

He said his stomach was full. Hmph, she was definitely going to feed him until his stomach burst!

Upon thinking like this, Lily's eyes flashed with a devious glint, and she picked up another spoonful of vegetables. She directed it toward Zane's lips. "Ah, hubby, open up and eat."

Zane immediately looked away and ignored her.

Upon seeing this, Lily harrumphed in her heart. Yet she sweetly coaxed, "Hubby, if you don't eat, that means you're still angry at me."

"I'm not." Zane picked up his phone and started on his workload for the day.

Lily's brows arched and her eyes squinted in disbelief. Zane wasn't going to work today? Even on weekends—and that included Sundays—the book mentioned that Zane was always at work.

Hmph. What could this male lead be planning?

Due to her thoughts, Lily shoved the spoonful of vegetables into her mouth and munched on them, her mind running and her burning gaze fixed on Zane Ji.

Yet Zane didn't move, nor did his focus break. It was as if he couldn't notice Lily.

However, how could Lily allow this? She picked up a piece of her osmanthus cake.

Lily had read that Zane didn't like sweet things, which meant he must have eaten her cake on purpose just to infuriate her. And by this time, he'd be tired of it.

Also, Zane was working.

Using the meal to stir his nose and distract him repeatedly would make Zane so annoyed that he'd lash out at her.

Zane was a workaholic, and one thing he didn't like was being disturbed or distracted during work. After all, just one simple distraction might cause a big loss to the company!

Lily picked up the osmanthus cake and pointed it toward his lips. She was definitely assured that Zane wouldn't eat it. Rather, he'd be annoyed with her for the distractions.

Thinking like this, Lily was utterly pleased and said coquettishly, "Hubby..."

Before Lily could complete her words, Zane Ji expertly turned his head and took half of the cake into his mouth.

The teasing smile on Lily's face froze, and she screamed in her heart.

This shameless man! He'd refused the vegetables but eaten her cake!

Lily was so furious that if she hadn't restrained herself, she'd have definitely stabbed him in the heart a couple of times.

Hmph. Zane was actually good at being sly.

Zane didn't like vegetables. That's why he'd done all this to her.

Lily's heart filled with injustice. There was no way she'd allow this to go—she'd definitely get her revenge!

Lily picked up her little leftover and shoved it into her mouth while cursing Zane unrestrainedly in her heart.

Lily's plan to use her meals to annoy Zane had completely disappeared after it backfired when Zane snatched half of her cake!
