Chapter 108 - The First Step of Unity

The study was quiet after Darveen's decision, yet unease still lingered in the air. Aria's children whispered among themselves, their eyes darting between their parents and Mukul. Change was coming, but it carried uncertainty.

It was Kaelen who broke the silence. He tightened his hold on Aria's hand, then looked steadily at Mukul and Anaya. "I have a suggestion," he said. His voice was calm, but there was steel beneath it.

"If any in the Draven family are not yet ready to embrace Mukul's vision fully, then let me take Aria, our children, and those willing to follow us to Europe. We will establish a branch of our own there—an anchor. Once we prove that life in Europe can thrive, the rest of the family can join us without hesitation. This way, no one feels forced, but the foundation still begins."

The room stilled. The idea hung heavy, daring but practical.

Aria turned to him, her eyes wide. "Kaelen…"

He gave her a small smile. "I will never ask you to choose between me and your siblings, Aria. But I will ask that we lead together. If this path is the one you wish to walk, then I will carve it open beside you."

Mukul leaned back, impressed by the foresight. "That may be the balance we need. A gradual relocation, step by step. Europe is prepared for you, but proving stability will silence any doubts the rest of your kin may carry."

Darveen studied his son-in-law closely, then gave a measured nod. "A wise compromise. If your branch prospers in Europe, the Dravens will follow in full."

Anaya added softly, "And until then, we'll shield you, support you, and help expand your reach. No part of you will stand alone."

Aria's heart swelled at the sight—her husband, siblings, and extended family slowly weaving trust. Tears pricked her eyes, but for once, they were not of grief—they were of possibility.

Within days, preparations began. Kaelen moved swiftly, coordinating with Mukul and Anaya's networks. A villa in Europe was secured as a temporary base, its halls wide enough to hold a family but fortified enough to serve as an operational hub.

The children were the first to sense the shift. Lyra and Selara clung to their mother at the thought of leaving their familiar home but grew excited when Mukul promised them cousins waiting to meet them. Darian, cautious, studied maps and resources as if preparing for war. Kaelene and Arion asked endless questions about the cities of Europe, their curiosity blooming into eagerness.

On the day of departure, emotions ran high. The Draven courtyard filled with family—some staying behind, others boarding carriages with trunks packed and hearts uncertain. Darveen stood tall, clasping Kaelen's shoulder. "Go, and show us the path. If you succeed, the Draven name will root itself in two worlds."

Kaelen bowed his head respectfully. "I will not fail."

Aria embraced those who remained, her tears falling freely. For years she had hidden behind the mask of Astra Lys, but now she walked openly as Aria Ahir-Draven, daughter, sister, wife, and mother. Her family was no longer fractured—it was beginning to heal.

Mukul and Anaya accompanied them to the transport, overseeing every detail. "We'll be in constant contact," Mukul assured Kaelen. "Europe will not be foreign ground—you'll have us at your side."

Kaelen met his gaze. "And when the time comes, the Dravens will not just arrive in Europe. We will arrive as equals."

As the first wave departed, the bond between families deepened. It was not the final uniting, but it was the first true step.

From the windows of the departing vessel, Aria looked back at her homeland, then forward toward the horizon. For the first time in decades, she allowed herself to hope—hope that one day, both families would stand together, unbroken, beneath the same sky.
