Chapter 164 - Chapter 164: Death of Mejia

Maiev flashed over, examining Gale's injuries. If not for the Natural Power protecting him, the suramar javelin would have already taken his life.

"He's still breathing, but he needs immediate treatment."

Metri opened Gale's magic pouch, took out the eternal holy grail and a teleportation crystal, and opened a portal to Shala'nil.

"Quick, everyone retreat!"

Maiev quickly carried Gale and rushed into the portal. If there was no Gale, whether the world existed or not no longer mattered to her.

Huln Highmountain looked at the Well of Eternity, which was within reach. "Are we just giving up like this?"

Metri shook his head, "You retreat first. You can't help anymore here. The three of us will try to close the portal. If we succeed, great. If not, we will retreat immediately!"

Lunden and Mejia agreed. The hot-tempered Lunden directly used the energy of Aggramar's Shield to attack the solid ice, which broke into two pieces at the waist.

Mejia first cast a fear spell on Savis, then used the tide stone to attack Azshara on the bridge.

Savis ran around the pillar in a panic, and Azshara hurriedly dodged. The tide stone was, after all, a pillars of creation, and the energy it contained was not something she could withstand.

Metri also raised the eye of aman'thul and launched an attack on Anatheron. Anatheron frantically dodged, but the Doom Guards behind him suffered. Swept by the light beam, hundreds of Doom Guards were instantly vaporized.

Huln Highmountain saw that Anatheron's reinforcements had arrived and knew that if he didn't leave now, it would be too late.

"Then I'll leave it to you!"

With that, he led the Tauren into the portal.

The others entered in single file, leaving only Metri and the other two.

Metri forced Anatheron back and, together with Lunden and Mejia, launched an attack on the portal above the Well of Eternity.

Three beams of light converged, striking the portal. The portal trembled violently, on the verge of collapsing.

At this moment, a large hand stretched out from within the portal, blocking the attack of the pillars of creation.

Metri and the other two were horrified. Could someone actually withstand the energy of the pillars of creation with their bare hands?

Azshara saw the opportunity and immediately created three ice spears, shooting them at the three.

Mejia noticed the ice spear attack and quickly pushed Metri and Lunden away, but was struck by the ice spears herself.

"Mejia—"

Lunden hugged Mejia, "How are you?"

Mejia was on her last breath, but she still worried about their safety: "Quickly enter... the por... tal..."

Lunden was filled with grief and indignation. Metri quickly pulled him, "It's impossible, let's retreat first!"

Lunden then hugged Mejia and rushed into the portal. Metri helped pick up the tide stone and Mejia's Soul-Stealing Scroll, and followed them in.

Anatheron swooped down, wanting to chase into the portal. If he could determine where the allied forces had escaped to, it would be a great achievement.

He had a beautiful thought, but a beam of light flew out from within the portal, knocking him away.

After several tumbles in the air, Anatheron looked disheveled as the portal closed. He looked at the large hole in his wing and cursed his bad luck.

Maiev carried Gale into the wooden house, then summoned a group of skilled healers, including priests and druids.

They projected Gale's injuries, and after analysis, determined the treatment plan. Maiev was responsible for pulling out the javelin, and the others were responsible for healing.

The moment the javelin was pulled out, blood splattered. The priests quickly used divine magic to stop the bleeding, and Nalarex and others used Natural Power magic to help restore the injuries.

The Natural Power also washed over Gale's body, helping the wounds heal.

In a short while, Gale's wounds were completely healed. The branches on the Natural Power also wriggled to repair themselves, becoming whole again.

After another moment, Gale woke up. The first thing he cared about was the portal.

"Has the portal closed?"

Maiev shook her head, "We retreated first, and we don't know the result yet."

Nalarex quickly walked out of the wooden house and called Metri in.

Metri said, "I'm sorry, we failed to destroy the portal."

Gale had actually guessed the answer. If the portal had closed, it would definitely not be so quiet outside, and there were even cries coming from there.

"How many people did we lose?"

Metri said softly, "A total of over three hundred people were sacrificed, including Mejia."

"Mejia?"

Gale struggled to stand up, and Maiev quickly supported him.

"What happened? Didn't I cut off the connection between the tidal scepter and the tide stone? How could Mejia die?"

Metri: "When we were closing the portal, a large hand blocked the energy of the pillars of creation. While we were stunned, Azshara ambushed us. Mejia pushed Lunden and me away, taking the attack for us."

Gale sighed, "Among the mages who followed me, Mejia was the most meticulous."

He let Maiev help him out of the wooden house. The Kaldorei outside all stood up.

"King Gale!"

Gale waved his hand gently, "I am not worthy to be king. If it weren't for me, the portal might have already closed. If I hadn't decided to raid Sin'dorei, we wouldn't have sacrificed so many people."

"I let everyone down, I let Mejia down, and even more so, I let Turok down..."

"King Gale!"

Lunden walked over, holding Mejia's corpse, "We must avenge Mejia."

Aeon followed behind, extracting Mejia's soul from his body. Mejia looked around blankly, as if he had thought of something.

He knelt before Gale and sincerely said, "King Gale, it is my greatest happiness to sacrifice for you. I only regret that I can no longer continue to serve you."

Gale gently stroked his head, "Mejia, I will find a way to resurrect you."

Mejia shook his head, "Death is the end of all living things. My King, even if you can resurrect me, I will die again."

Gale looked at him, "But you haven't married or had children yet."

"The purpose of marriage and children is to continue life," Mejia said. "If I can exist forever, marriage and children have little meaning to me. My King, I request that you turn me into a Lich."

"Lich?" Gale looked at him in astonishment. It wasn't that Mejia's request was excessive, but where did Mejia learn about Liches?

One must know that this was ten thousand years ago, the Lich King didn't even exist, let alone Liches?

Mejia said, "I found some records among the spoils of the Destroyer Witch. They can create something called a phylactery to carry the soul, and then use magic to create a body as the Lich's body. As long as I can become a Lich, then I won't have to fear death anymore."

The people around looked at each other. The existence of Liches truly went against the laws of life. If the boundary of death was broken, wouldn't this world be in chaos?
