"Haaa…" Emma let out a deep breath as her vision shifted.
She saw William flying toward her. His hand was burned, the side of his face charred, yet he didn't stop. He was desperate to reach her after seeing the state she had pushed herself into.
Her heart twisted at the sight.
She had nearly lost herself in the desire to save the Count. However, before tending to her lover, she decided to use these fleeting moments of divinity to finish what she had started.
She clenched her hand and grasped the burning trident of the heavens: Astalout.
The three fangs of the trident pointed toward the Count.
She gave one last glance to William, who still couldn't see her, before descending toward Carter.
Ting
A metallic sound rang out as the trident pierced the man, making his body jerk violently.
For a moment, silence fell.
Then—
"Ahhhh!"
Carter cried out, his eyes widening as his body began breaking and mending at a terrifying pace.
