Hate burned through me like hot coal. Stirring deep within my soul and ensnarling my heart with its pungent smell of despair and disgust. But the stench of disgust I felt wasn't for him though. The hatred burning through me wasn't directed at anyone else but myself.
This feeling of being helpless and powerless, being subjected to the pressure of his pheromones. Unable to get my body to act accordingly, I hated myself more than I had ever hated anything else in this world. More than my hatred of him.
This was all my fault wasn't it? If I hadn't… If I had just listened to the forest that day, I wouldn't have found the wounded wolf. I wouldn't have felt obligated to tend his wounds. I wouldn't have spent the months that followed enamoured with a man that would later bring about the downfall of my people. My parents' lives won't be hanging on a thin thread and I wouldn't be here, having my body act against my will.
