Nevaeh was busy returning greetings and expressing gratitude, completely unaware of Elizabeth and Noreen watching her from a dark corner of the hall.
After standing for so long, her feet began to ache and her body felt heavy with fatigue. Leaning toward Yesenia, she smiled politely.
"I'll go rest for a bit," she said softly before quietly excusing herself to the lounge.
The hallway outside was quieter, the noise of the party fading into a distant hum.
Just as she reached for the lounge door, a waiter dressed neatly in a black suit approached, holding out a bright red envelope.
"Excuse me," he said, bowing slightly. "Are you Nevaeh?"
Since many guests had prepared red envelopes as gifts for the event, Nevaeh didn't find it strange.
She nodded with a gentle smile. "Yes, I am."
