Nevaeh's gaze was icy, her words cutting and powerful. Noreen flinched, shrinking back under that sharp stare that seemed to freeze the air around them.
For a brief moment, Noreen could actually feel the fiery anger radiating from Nevaeh, making her heart skip and her tongue stumble.
"You… you dare! Do you really think I won't burn that diary right now?" Noreen shouted, her voice trembling with fury.
Before she could react further, Nevaeh's arm lifted swiftly, and with a loud, crisp slap, her palm struck across Noreen's face.
"She's still your grandmother!" Nevaeh's voice cracked with anger. "And let me make something clear, I have no ties with the Huck family anymore! It was Grandma who found me, who raised me. The only person I care about is her, not your so-called family!"
Once, Nevaeh had felt a trace of affection toward the Huck family.
