Chapter 101 - GTAG Chapter 101 Despair

GTAG Chapter 101 Despair

The twin axes had buried themselves deep into Triangle Head's shoulders.

If the blow had been any stronger, its arms might have been severed completely.

Its grip weakened, claws losing strength.

The melee Jaeger seized the chance, reversing its grip on the greatsword and stabbing backward, forcing Triangle Head to leap off.

But even after disengaging, Triangle Head moved slyly into the blind spot of the dark green Jaeger, shielded by the melee Jaeger's bulk.

Sparks crackled across the melee Jaeger's mangled back.

Though Scythe Head had failed to destroy it earlier, it had torn away enough parts to leave the machine heavily damaged.

Inside, the pilots dared not relax, eyes locked on their monstrous opponent.

For the first time in their careers, they felt a suffocating pressure—far heavier than training drills or international competitions.

This was the weight of death itself.

They knew all too well: a single mistake here meant dying in their machine.

By contrast, Scythe Head looked almost casual, circling slowly, waiting for the perfect opening.

Minutes passed before Triangle Head dove once more, swimming toward the melee Jaeger.

The pilots braced for an assault—only to be blindsided.

Triangle Head surfaced and spat a torrent of sizzling blue acid straight at them.

The corrosive spray drenched their Jaeger's head and chest.

Hisssss—

Armor smoked and melted, white vapor rising as the plating gave way faster than they could retreat. The Jaeger toppled backward into the sea.

The acid ate through its defenses too quickly. By the time it hit the water, the pilots inside were already dead.

This was no ordinary weapon.

The Precursors had crafted this acid specifically to test Godzilla's defenses—the most potent formula they could engineer.

Triangle Head didn't stop there. With its tail, it twisted the fallen Jaeger's chest open, finishing the kill before turning its six blood-red eyes on the last standing machine.

Under its murderous gaze, the green Jaeger's pilots felt as if plunged into ice. A chill surged up their spines, and despair clawed at their hearts.

For a moment, the thought of running flickered between them.

Who wouldn't want to flee when faced with an unbeatable foe?

But helicopters hovered above, broadcasting the battle live across the globe.

If they fled now, they would be shamed forever, hunted by ridicule no matter where they went.

Yet staying didn't change the truth—they could not defeat Triangle Head.

"Where's our support?! Where is it?!" one pilot screamed, even as he unleashed a storm of plasma fire to stall the beast.

Cannons roared from shoulders and arms, spraying bolts in alternating salvos. Their Jaeger was a fortress, its armor heavy and ammo plentiful.

But ammo was not infinite. Once spent, they would be lambs on the chopping block.

Support was half an hour away—far too late.

Even ten minutes was a fantasy. At this pace, they would run dry in less than three.

Did that mean they had only three minutes left to live?

They glanced at each other, despair mirrored in both sets of eyes.

They had seen how Triangle Head always destroyed the cockpit and chest, ensuring no survivors.

Wait…

A realization struck them.

Why did they have to die inside the machine?

The escape system was still intact.

The only reason the earlier pilots perished was because their cockpits had been destroyed before they could eject.

If they protected the head, they might live.

Hope flared in their eyes. Their fire no longer carried desperation, but strategy.

Soon, their ammunition ran dry.

As Triangle Head charged, the pilots triggered the Jaeger's self-destruct and activated the escape system.

Its armor wasn't for show—Triangle Head's claws, fangs, and tail could not break through instantly.

Unlike the first Jaeger, destroyed in a single blow, this one held firm.

But with no attacks left and its pilots gone, the machine stood motionless.

Seconds later, Triangle Head tore its head free, then ripped open the chest—only to find searing white light inside.

BOOM!

A massive explosion rocked the city, shattering windows for miles. The blinding flash left countless onlookers seeing nothing but darkness.

If not for the pilots limiting the blast, the destruction would have been far worse.

A mushroom cloud rose into the sky, and silence blanketed the world.

Those who had lived in peace could hardly imagine how humanity of old had ever fought monsters like this with outdated Jaegers.

Now, they understood—just one monster had cost them three of their most advanced machines.

And only two pilots had managed to escape alive.

The death toll was staggering.
