Chapter 100 - GTAG Chapter 100: Brutal Battle

GTAG Chapter 100: Brutal Battle

How terrifying are kaiju?

Countless humans have perished at their claws.

How devastating is their destructive power?

The ruined cities lying in their wake are proof enough.

And how strong are they in battle?

Those who once lived in worlds without kaiju were finally about to witness it firsthand.

But along with the awe came something else—fear, threatening to swallow them whole.

············

The blue-and-white sixth-generation Jaeger moved at first with deliberate steps, then broke into a sprint toward Triangle Head.

In its hands gleamed a hundred-meter alloy greatsword, a blade so massive it could slice through skyscrapers.

The pilots inside believed they could cleave off the kaiju's head in one clean strike.

When the Jaeger closed within a few hundred meters, it leapt high into the air, raising its sword for a mighty downward slash aimed at Triangle Head's neck.

"Kill it!"

"Idiots!"

Online, voices split into two extremes.

Ordinary citizens shouted with excitement, while retired Jaeger hunters roared in fury.

Leaping so high in front of a kaiju, exposing every weakness—it was suicidal!

What kind of fool would do that?

Friendly international competitions in the past were one thing, just harmless playfights. But this was life and death. How could these young pilots still think about looking flashy? Were their brains fried—or had they been drinking too much contaminated water?

Even Triangle Head froze in shock for a second.

Weren't these giant machines supposed to be strong?

Why were they handing themselves to it on a silver platter?

It wondered if this was a trap, but as a living weapon bred only for slaughter, it knew only to seize certain openings and kill.

As the blue-and-white Jaeger's sword came down, Triangle Head twisted its massive body, swinging its tail.

Snap!

The strike came faster than sound, a booming sonic crack echoing through the air.

The tail smashed into the Jaeger's waist. In an instant, the machine was severed in two, its upper and lower halves crashing into the ocean, sending up towering waves.

"..."

"..."

Silence fell across the entire network.

No one had expected a Jaeger—once seen as humanity's ultimate weapon—to be destroyed so effortlessly. The sight shattered their understanding.

But Triangle Head wasn't done.

Striding forward, it seized the severed Jaeger's head in its claws and crushed it flat. Its auxiliary limbs shredded the chest cavity until nothing remained intact.

The Precursors, lacking sensory links to human memories, still believed Jaegers were strange living organisms of Earth.

They thought the machines' weak points were the head and chest.

After seeing Jaegers keep moving even after decapitation, they began to assume the chest was the true vital spot.

So Triangle Head destroyed both. It didn't believe anything could survive that.

And it was right—neither machine nor pilots remained.

No sooner had it finished than plasma fire streaked in, slamming into the waters it had just vacated.

More blasts followed, shot after shot, plasma cannons tracking its movements.

Though fast, the beams were faster.

Chunks of armor shattered from its body, blue blood spraying into the sea.

Triangle Head's easy destruction of one Jaeger had stunned everyone, but the remaining pilots quickly recovered, their training and dual neural links holding steady.

They unleashed a barrage, pinning the kaiju under fire.

Shaken by what it had seen, they dared not let it get close.

Most of the fire came from a dark green Jaeger, heavily armored, with twin plasma cannons mounted on its shoulders and forearms that transformed into additional cannons.

Its chest could unleash scorching energy beams, and twin machine guns were fitted at its head.

It was a walking fortress, capable of combining its weapons into a single massive artillery strike strong enough to disable another sixth-gen Jaeger.

The other Jaeger lacked heavy ranged weapons, but was bristling with melee gear—its own alloy greatsword, plus daggers and axes strapped across its frame.

Under the relentless barrage, Triangle Head's shell split and cracked, revealing patches of stark white bone.

When the green Jaeger showed no signs of letting up, the kaiju suddenly dove beneath the waves.

Though invisible to the naked eye, the Jaegers' sensors tracked its every move.

The green Jaeger's pilots kept up their fire without panic.

But underwater, Triangle Head became even faster, darting with serpent-like agility, plasma beams missing more often.

It zigzagged toward the green Jaeger.

The melee Jaeger rushed to intercept, but Triangle Head abruptly shifted direction, lunging at it instead.

Caught off guard, its pilots swung their greatsword downward.

Triangle Head twisted aside, dodging cleanly, then surged up behind it. With a roar, it slammed onto the Jaeger's back, claws clamping onto its head, ready to wrench it free.

But the melee Jaeger had one last defense.

Twin axes mounted on its shoulders snapped loose, springing upward—driving straight into Triangle Head's body.
