"I think you're a bit too extreme," Snape said quietly.
Kayson, however, looked at him with a strange gaze.
"Shouldn't that be your line?"
"Sneaking into someone else's school to assassinate their Principal shouldn't be your line either," Snape scoffed.
"Otherwise, I can't just let a former Death Eater come to Hogwarts and pose a threat to the Little Wizards, can I?" Kayson said, shrugging his hands as if it were the most natural thing.
The only genuine former Death Eater among the five people present, Snape, felt like he had been stabbed in the heart.
"Why is your expression so strange?" Kayson asked, a little puzzled.
Snape, however, shook his head: "Nothing, I have things to do." With that, he left the corridor.
After seeing Snape leave, Kayson quickly remembered that this was a corridor, and basically, after every class, Little Wizards would pass through this corridor, knock on his office door, and come in for a short sit.
The foot traffic was basically on par with the Great Hall during dinner, terrifyingly so.
"Alright, gentlemen, if you don't want the Little Wizards to know that Sirius Black, who caused them to attend school with Dementors, is standing right here in this corridor, then please come in."
Kayson opened the office door and motioned for them to quickly enter. After closing the door, he even specifically pressed the button that indicated the office was empty before returning to his own work area, watching Lupin and Sirius Black drift their boat with Dumbledore.
.... "That's not right, I remember setting up a restriction, didn't I?" Kayson looked at Dumbledore, who had apparated many times in his office, with some confusion, while the latter showed a smile.
"Are you talking about that one? I saw that thing constantly emitting magic fluctuations and it was quite dangerous, so I turned it off last time I was here." Dumbledore pointed to the ender pearl in the distance, which should have been constantly emitting space restrictions, but was now turned off for a long time.
"When?" Kayson asked calmly.
"About three days ago."
Kayson mumbled, wiggling his fingers: "Three days ago..." Then he saw Sirius Black disembarking and walking towards him: "A thief broke into the house three days ago and you didn't know! How did you guard the house!"
Suddenly being yelled at, Sirius Black pointed at himself in a daze: "What happened?"
"Ahem, irrelevant, irrelevant, let's continue our conversation. Before, we were always asking you, now you can ask us," Dumbledore said awkwardly, trying to smooth things over.
"Ask you... Remus, how did you become a Professor at Hogwarts now?" Sirius Black asked Lupin.
"Is my academic level insufficient to be a Professor?" Lupin retorted.
"No, I mean your Werewolf identity. How do you get through the full moon night? Is it still the Shrieking Shack?"
Lupin's eyes darted around, his Gryffindor spirit burning brightly at this moment. He quickly came up with an idea.
"Next week is this month's full moon. You'll know if you come with me then."
Sirius Black agreed without almost any thought, after all, he had done this kind of thing countless times during his student days: "Of course, no problem."
"Then it's settled. I'll come here to find you then."
Sirius Black nodded, then looked at Dumbledore: "Before, I heard Kayson and Harry say that Harry wasn't living well at his aunt's house?"
"That's right," Dumbledore nodded calmly.
"Those two... Muggles, I knew it would be like that," Sirius Black cursed through gritted teeth.
"So do you regret it now? You unilaterally believed that locking yourself in Azkaban was 'atonement', but you never thought about Harry's life... After all, you are Harry's godfather. Emotionally, you are his last living relative," Dumbledore said quietly.
"..... I asked Hagrid back then, and he said you would make arrangements," Sirius Black said dryly.
"In fact, making arrangements and living well cannot be confused. I'm not particularly familiar with that period of history, but the Longbottom family was almost completely destroyed overnight by the remnants of the Death Eaters, and Harry being able to live safely until now is already a very good outcome."
Dumbledore looked at Kayson with some surprise, because he uncharacteristically said something reasonable on his behalf. Before, Kayson never spoke up for him.
He either impersonated Snape or used various sarcastic remarks, and sometimes verbal attacks weren't enough, he also liked to add some physical attacks.
But today, Kayson, for some unknown reason, actually spoke up for him like a human being.
Congratulations, congratulations, this is a good day to reward himself with a fruit pie.
"Alright, strictly speaking, he's an orphan, and he's alive now... No, I still can't accept it. His parents sacrificed so much for the magic world, for you, and yet their only son, Harry Potter, who defeated Lord Voldemort, lives like that?" Sirius Black spoke halfway, then instantly turned to Dumbledore, catching him off guard.
Dumbledore only sighed: "Not all of those Death Eaters were as courageous or brave as you to go to Azkaban. Most of them escaped punishment through various means. I was very afraid that some of those who slipped through the net would extend their claws towards Harry."
"Did you set up protection for Harry?" Sirius Black continued to ask.
"Mm."
"What kind of setup?"
"If it's Harry's own protection, he actually doesn't need anyone else. He has the protective magic Lily cast on him, but if it's what I set up for him... a neighbor, Mrs. Figg," Dumbledore explained.
"Figg... I haven't heard that name before?"
Kayson coughed, deciding to backstab Dumbledore for a bit. Before, he spoke up for him as an impartial observer. Dumbledore found an adoptive family for Harry Potter, who would have become an orphan. Regardless of what that family was like, at least they raised Harry.
But this time, he decided he should also defend Sirius Black's right to know... Well, he just wanted to watch the show.
"Ahem, Mrs. Figg is a Squib."
As Kayson's words fell, Sirius Black looked at Dumbledore with an expression of misplaced trust, as if to say.
