The area was rather busily but in a calm way, where everything ran fast and slow at the same time. I had came to a conclusion that I was no longer on Earth anyone more.
Even if this place wasn't Earth, it did resemble the— like the technical advancements, the skyscrapers, the people walking around. It was like a mix of a fantasy world and futuristic world. Both tech and magic. There were many different cultures too, although the difference in culture and traditions, people had seemed learn to live in peace.
[Why are you protecting him.
Because he still has more to live for
You would sacrifice your own life for that punny pest.
... ]
The scene of me in the first trial fighting and trying to protect Kit was playing, I felt embarrassed so I hid my under my hoodie so no one would recognize me.
"Who's that guy, I been seeing him around everywhere." A person in the crowd asked a woman beside him.
"Him?" He pointed to the screen.
"You don't know him. His one of the new 'heaven's fallen that Fell umm... Three days ago. People are going crazy for him since he basically changed history it's self not just once but twice in one day." The woman with short brown hair, black eyes and fair skin explained to the confused men, who was starting to understand the whole story.
"How did that change history." He laughed pointing at the the screen image of me. Wow, way to insult someone. My lips flattened as I grind my teeth unconsciousnessly.
"Do you remember when Evigheden shock 3 days ago." They both nodded.
"HE.DID.THAT."
"No, really how tho."
"I don't know how he did but all I know is it was awesome."
The two continued to ideally chat behind the three of us. I was no longer listened to their conversation but now gazed in the direction of the screen.
Seeing myself... Like that was really something.
"I'm gonna to that store over there for sec." Andy announced. We beed him good bye. He had said he would caught up with us later so it was fine.
Just then I noticed Kit's stomach grilled from hungry. I searched around for somewhere we could get food and found one around the corner. The sweet smell of baked goods and coffee danced in the air of the coffee shop.
I can do this.
I slowly approached the counter. As you can tell, I was kinda nervous.
One would think your fear of talking to strangers would be gone when you face a near-death experience.
"Can I get a round of donuts."
"Sure, man." The friendly casher smiled brightly and took my order.
Sign.
As I wait for my order Kit had to go to the toilet." Ok." I gave him the green flag.
I casually picked up a news paper that said.
Learn about Evigheden.
(The heaven's fallen of this year are turning out to be an extraordinary bunch.)
Evigheden is the land lost in time.
The home of the dead or dying.
The heaven's fallen face brutal trials to prove that they deserve their chance to live.
"Not giving much info are they." I murmured under my breath but it was still better than nothing.
"Yep, you're right."
I sensed a pair of eyes focused on my position so I lightly gazed at the stranger.
Expecting an old man but who I saw was a teenager with long white hair and Jade colored irises, that were captivating. He was dressed in a black coat which made he seem both mysterious and fancy like a rich man.
"And you are?" I asked.
"Calix, nice to meet you." He extended his right hand. I glanced at the extended had and took it.
"Dain"
"I know." He said much quieter.
"Excuse me." I tilted my head.
"You're all over these past few days, I can't go anywhere without seeing you."
"Oh I'm sorry." I felt sweat run down my cheek
"Don't be." He sipped his drink. For a second I thought I saw his irises land on the sword I got this morning but quickly brushed it off because it didn't mean nothing.
"So what did you want to learn about this place."
I thought about it before saying the following words. "Everything, really." With my words Calix chuckled.
"Thought you'd say that."
He proceeded to tell the lore behind this place.
Evigheden is the land lost in time.
The home of the dead or dying.
The place the dead go to live again.
The heaven's fallen face brutal trials to prove that they deserve their chance to live.
Heaven's Fallen fall from the sky every 9 years to face trials that are their chance of ever getting to prevent their deaths so they can go back and continue living their lives before Evigheden. The moment when they are summoned from the sky looks like angles falling from heaven, which is why they're called Heaven's Fallen.
Those who fail or rather die during the trails are reborn as an Emrys—which is the word used to refer to the people of Evigheden.
The conductors are like the gods of Evigheden, they control and they provide. They never show anyone their faces, even to each other. Here information is power and to know one's face is to know one's identity. It is rumored only the one's they trust the most are the only ones that know the true identity behind the mask.
"You know there is an old legend that says that this place did not come naturally but came to be because of one man." Calix smiled at nothing just then I noticed that the man had a really strong and intense gaze.
He explained more and more things. I finally asked him my first question since when he started talking.
"So if I were to die during the trails or... even outside of the trials, I would be reborn as a citizen of Evigheden?"
He nodded then proceeded to say.
"Well yeah, but I'd highly doubt that tho."
He then stood up lightly and walked to the exit but he glanced back at me.
"See you around." He waved before disappearing like he was never there.
"Oh and I almost forgot one thing..."
"STAY AWAKE."
