Chapter 4 - Chapter 3

It was that guy again. He was standing behind her, smiling like a creep while his eyes where on me.

It was as if he was saying...

Gotta.

I sent the broken broom flying to his head, sending down for the last time.

[Subject 18 has passed the first trial]

I bent down to Seanna's level putting pressure on the wound although there was no use. Her fate had already been written, she was not gonna make it and I knew it but I still needed to try.

"See I stood by my word-I didn't kill anybody." She groaned.

"I could tell you were wondering wether I'd keep it like I said I would or not. It's really funny the cost of not taking another's life is your own." She chuckled, slowly closing her eyes as her body went cold.

"Keep that kid alive will you, same goes for you, survive." She said as her final words in this life time.

Some people really do stand by their word and it get's them killed. This was a life or death situation where you had to kill to survive, she did not, which is why she died.

May her soul find eternal slumber.

I stood there for a few seconds in uther silence. Someone just died on my watch, I wanted to survive her. I failed. I failed. I failed.

[You can't survive everyone, child]

The ethereal voice sounded.

I granted my teeth before I took a breath to calm myself down. I lifted my self up and walked away with my head down.

When we were teleported here it was night—I'd say about late midnight. But even though we had only been in the trail room for 50 minutes tops.

A golden orange glow illuminated my hair that it showed it's brown color. My hair was black but shone brown in the sun. I held the kid, who was still passed out in my hands, carrying us both, because my legs were ready to give out. I knew any second I would collapse.

Tap!

Tap!

Tap!

The sound of my feet hitting the ground echoed all over.

"There they are!" A woman called out. She was one of the five... no four survivers of section Z.

I lifted my head up and felt my legs give up on me, I turned to fall backwards so the kid wouldn't get hurt.

I heard shouting before my vision went blank.

I sensed someone's presence standing over me, gently guiding my hair off my cheeks.

They whispered words into my ear then proceeded to leave but before they were fully out the door, they left something behind.

My eyelids flicker open. I examined the room and found a beautiful pure black sword laying by the side of the bed.

Crick!

Andy Lent by the door, looking worried. He had his blond her in half-up-half-down hairstyles.

"Good to see you're up." Andy said.

I groaned realizing my whole body was in pain.

"Wow, wow slow down, Dain don't cause yourself more pain than you already are in."

I didn't listen to him. I had already made it to the door. My limbs gave out on me once again, luckily Andy caught me in time.

"Don't worrying about the kid, his alright.".

Right then we both heard a crick and turned to face it. The kid slowly pushed the wooden door open. He had bandages on his arms and face. His silver eyes flicker with tires that he quickly whipped away.

He had changed into new clean clothes that were a little too big for him, maybe like one or two sizes bigger. They made him seem smaller than he was.

He seemed scared to come closer to me like I was gonna tell him to go away if he came any closer. I balanced myself and nodded for him to come closer.

He stood in front of someone who he did not know so off course he became shy.

"We found you both passed out, outside of the battlefield of section Z. His name is Kit." Andy noted.

"Kit, this is Dain, the guy who saved you." I eyed Andy, I didn't want to be responsible for someone even if I did save them.

I did have questions I wanted to ask Andy. Kit didn't say much, he just observed me, very, very strongly.

"How long have I been out, Andy?" He tilted his head finding it odd to why I was calling him Andy. "Andy, ah nevermind. Three days, you've been out for three days."

Well it did feel like I slept for a long time. It's the only rest I've gotten in days.

I knelt down to Kit's level and patted the top of his, strangely he covered his eyes shat in an instant, soon he opened them and gazed up at me with the brightest smile I had ever seen a child have.

"Thank you for saving me, Mister." He stuttered while tapping his leg.His nervous actions were honestly adorable to say the least. Wait did he just call me Mister.

"I'm not that old so you don't have to call me Mister." I cried.

"Ok Mister." Kit repeated his mistake.

"Not Mister." I corrected.

He nodded his head like understood only to do it again. I signed having given up.

"How old are you anyway." I tilted my head. He held up his fingers and began to silently count under his breath.

1... 2... 3...

"Mommy told me that if I count all my fingers and leave 2 out then that's how old am I." He seemed to be struggling to know which number it was so I help he out.

"Huh so your 8..." He nodded.

"Yes that's what mommy told me 4 days before I... I... Before I came here."

I looked him straight in his little child eyes and asked him something." Did you have vision of things that didn't happen yet but they felt like they happened."

He nodded.

"Yeah, and they hurt a lot."

I felt sorry for the kid, to die so young and on his birthday, which is what I thought because I had came to a conclusion that when your visions are stronger that's when you're close to the day you died.

"Oh look at you becaming an older brother so sudden." Andy whispered and looked away like he never said anything as I stared at him.

"You two are lucky." Andy point out, which made me curious to why we were apparently 'lucky'.

"Let me explain."

He proceeded to explain how there is only supposed to be 'one' surviver of the first trial, out of 24 people that are in each section only one is meant to still stand while everyone else dies.

But I had saved Kit and we both made it out, so I guess we were lucky.

Or were we?
