Yesterday, Steppenwolf had defeated Homelander, causing the company's stock price to plummet.
President Madelyn wasn't having an easy time either.

Madelyn was sharp and capable, long an expert at keeping Homelander under control—but now Homelander was showing signs of slipping out of their grasp.
This made Uncle Fryer extremely wary.
Madelyn frowned."But Steppenwolf isn't easy to deal with. Homelander isn't his match."
"With Storm Girl, Black Noir, and the Holy See supporting us, there shouldn't be any problems," Uncle Fryer said calmly."This time, we'll broadcast their entire world-saving feat. The stock price will skyrocket."
"This is extremely important for pushing the legalization of Compound V."
Madelyn hesitated."But that Daoist Lin seems to gain the upper hand every time."
"It's fine," Uncle Fryer said dismissively."I've investigated him. He has no backing forces and poses no real threat. I'll find opportunities to discredit him—or destroy him."
Lin Chen brought Mera home, and everyone gathered around to look at the Mother Box.
"So this is the Mother Box guarded by the Sea Clan?" Catwoman clicked her tongue."Aren't there any district police?"
What mattered more to everyone else was that Mera had finally arrived—and could eat real food.
Lin Chen, however, insisted that everyone had equal status."You still have to learn to help out. You can't freeload forever."
Mera's eyes reddened with emotion."Master, you're so good to people!"
Jill asked curiously,"Master, are you keeping the Mother Box at home?"
Lin Chen shook his head."Impossible. It's far too dangerous."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
"I'm taking it to Batman."
Everyone rolled their eyes.
Lin Chen drove the Mother Box to Wayne Manor.
Diana had already received the news and was waiting at the door."I heard from Mera that you were extremely heroic in Atlantis—and incredibly powerful."
Lin Chen waved his hand casually."Just a small matter. Mera's father is practically about to kneel to me."
Diana laughed."You're disgusting. To get rid of a scumbag for his daughter, he even wants to worship you."
"What do you know? That old guy is ambitious. He wants to attack the surface too—he just doesn't want to stand in the spotlight."
"Come in." Diana took Lin Chen's hand and led him inside.
Batman was tuning his aircraft, while Miranda fed him snacks. The two looked very close.
"Bruce, look what I brought you." Lin Chen placed the Mother Box on the table.
Cyborg walked over and nodded to Lin Chen.
He examined the box."This Mother Box is from the Sea Clan?"
"Mm."
Cyborg then asked,"Why are you here, Cyborg?" Lin Chen asked.
"My father and eight lab staff were captured."
Lin Chen nodded in understanding."Most likely taken by the demons. They're trying to locate the Mother Box guarded by humans."
Batman jumped down and spread out a map."This is what Gordon gave me. It marks all locations where monster activity has been detected."
The Flash glanced at it, confused, and handed it to Lin Chen.
Lin Chen waved it away."I don't need that."He turned to Cyborg."Show me a photo of your father."
Cyborg pulled out his phone.
Lin Chen activated his Water-Mirror Physiognomy."They're imprisoned in an abandoned tunnel on Stry Island, between New York and Gotham."
Cyborg immediately grew anxious.
The Flash said,"The Batmobile can't fit that many people."
Batman proudly pointed at a massive armored vehicle."That can."
Lin Chen scooped Diana up and flew toward the island.
Cyborg followed behind.
The Flash spread his hands."Actually… your Batmobile can still seat me."
Batman fell silent.
Diana curled up in Lin Chen's arms, feeling the cold sea wind."Can you fly a little slower? I'm cold."
Lin Chen smacked his lips."Who told you to wear armor with so little fabric?"
They landed atop the massive ventilation tower above the tunnel.
Lin Chen smiled."They're not here yet. Why don't we chat?"
Wonder Woman punched him."Bastard! I really want to throw you off this tower!"
"I just want to chat. Isn't that right, Cyborg?" Lin Chen said.
Cyborg stepped out from behind a pillar."I was admiring the scenery. I didn't hear anything."
Diana wanted to crawl into a hole—she had completely misunderstood.
Lin Chen whispered,"Once Steppenwolf is dealt with, you're welcome to continue chatting."
Diana slapped him hard."Dream on!"
Lin Chen looked down."Steppenwolf and his men are in the abandoned computer room directly beneath us—interrogating the captives."
He flew down with Diana in his arms.
Batman and The Flash were already hiding in the shadows, observing Steppenwolf.
When The Flash saw Lin Chen arrive, he sighed in relief."Master, you're here—thank goodness. I'm kind of scared."
"What are you afraid of?" Lin Chen said calmly."I have a mission for you."
He took out hundreds of talismans."In a moment, use your speed to cover Steppenwolf's entire body."
The Flash's eyelids twitched."Master, I'll complete the mission!"
Unexpectedly, Cyborg attacked first—Steppenwolf was interrogating his father.
Boom!
Cyborg blasted Steppenwolf with an energy beam and jumped in front of his father.
"The scent of the Mother Box…" Steppenwolf laughed wildly."You're a creature born of the Mother Box!"
He lunged toward Cyborg.
"Aah!"
Wonder Woman descended from above and sliced a demon in half with one strike.
"It's you again, Amazon," Steppenwolf sneered."Stronger and more beautiful than the rest. You'll be my prize when I conquer Earth!"
Wonder Woman cut down another demon."I'm the woman you'll never have! Keep dreaming, you toad!"
Lin Chen patted The Flash."Barry, why haven't you moved yet?"
The Flash scratched his head."Master… I'm fast, but my reactions are slow. I'm going!"
Lin Chen fell silent.
In a flash of lightning, Steppenwolf felt himself struck by hundreds of slaps.
The Flash leaned against the wall, looking at Steppenwolf—now nearly flattened."The effect's good. You could join Halloween."
"Bastard!" Steppenwolf roared, charging at The Flash with his axe.
"Aaah!"
He slipped violently—splitting his legs apart in an extreme fall.
Lin Chen flew down, wrapping an arm around Wonder Woman's waist.
"Steppenwolf," Lin Chen sneered,"you're ugly, yet you still dare covet my sister Diana. No wonder Darkseid exiled you—you never understood your place."
