"Batman, I'll leave this to you!"
George Stacy didn't hesitate; he trusted Batman implicitly.
Although Batman's frequent appearances over the past few months had always caused a sensation, overshadowing the NYPD, it had to be admitted that thanks to Batman's deterrent effect, the overall crime rate in New York was decreasing.
The most crucial point was that Batman always left the cleanup to the police department.
Give or take, the NYPD's performance was quite impressive.
Especially after the Lizard incident, benefiting from Batman's involvement and establishing a friendly working relationship, they had entered a virtuous cycle, receiving multiple commendations from City Hall.
Even the citizens of New York had started to view the NYPD more favorably.
Of course, the citizens didn't know that the Lizard was kidnapped by unidentified thugs the next night.
After George finished speaking, he left the scene to Batman. Then, he pressed the communicator, ordering the snipers to retreat. At the same time, he quickly commanded the task force to fall back, leaving enough space for Batman and the Green Goblin to fight.
Soon, Spider-Man arrived late.
Seeing George Stacy's command, he thought about how the NYPD had offered assistance when he fought the Green Goblin. He didn't feel like he was being looked after at all; instead, he felt it was a "humiliation," a clear lack of trust.
But, come to think of it, an idol is indeed an idol. Even the police trust him so much!
Spider-Man thought again, realizing how much influence the name Batman now had.
This was his goal for the future! Whoosh!
While he was pondering, a throwing knife cut through the air, causing the air to vibrate as it targeted Batman, who was standing beside Spider-Man.
Anton tilted his head slightly, allowing the throwing knife to graze past his ear before exploding behind him.
Boom!
Air currents and dust swirled.
The green figure slowly walked towards Anton and Spider-Man.
"Batman! Spider-Man!"
Green Goblin's tone was low, seemingly complex, but with more hatred and barely suppressed rage.
"Why are you stopping me?"
He suddenly spread his arms wide, filled with madness: "You should join me! We can conquer New York together! We are extraordinary beings with extraordinary abilities. Let's build a New York that's more suitable for us. Isn't that what you and I want?"
"You're truly insane, Norman!"
Anton sighed, his eyes filled with regret as he looked at the Green Goblin.
They were alone now, and Anton knew the villain's identity. The Green Goblin had likely figured out who Anton was as well.
Spider-Man, standing nearby, stared with wide eyes behind his mask.
Norman?!
Norman Osborn!
Was this the same friendly, approachable Uncle Norman he'd known since he was a kid?
Spider-Man didn't doubt the truth of the statement.
Because the words came from Batman's mouth.
Batman wouldn't lie!
He thought of how he'd been completely unguarded in the Osborn Building's weapons room, with no disguise, standing right in front of the Green Goblin, who'd attacked without hesitation…
Spider-Man felt a sudden pang of hurt.
...
Ninja Dojo, in the sewers.
Eddie was currently discussing the issues of Shredder and TCRI with Splinter, a rat about five feet tall who could speak, possessed excellent posture, and was incredibly skilled in martial arts.
Initially, he was very surprised to see a rat and some turtles, but as they talked, he began to treat them as if they were human.
Eddie got the answers to many of his questions from Splinter.
Basically, he understood the Foot Clan's background.
Nearby.
April was communicating with the four lively Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
They were all excited.
"You're the little girl who saved us?"
Michelangelo, nicknamed Mikey, the yellow-masked turtle and the most outgoing of the four, sized up April and chuckled, "You're really pretty now. You thinking about getting a strong boyfriend like me?"
"I really can't believe it. After all these years, you've all… grown up!"
April ignored him, answering a different question entirely, completely unconcerned with what Mikey had said.
She widened her eyes, examining the four turtles in front of her, all with strong physiques and muscles, and was extremely excited.
These were her father's research results, and they were also her pets when she was a child.
Suddenly, the voice of a news reporter sounded in their ears.
"Another terrorist attack at the Osborn Building! Spider-Man is fighting terrorists! It is reported that the terrorist who attacked the Osborn Building... calls himself the Green Goblin."
"Spider-Man is in a bad situation. The NYPD has arrived to evacuate the public. If you see this news, citizens, please immediately move away from the Osborn Building to avoid being caught in the battle between Green Goblin and Batman."
The urgent and tense news report snapped everyone back to reality, and they turned their attention to the used TV set beside the dojo.
"The news!"
Eddie and April reacted immediately.
Especially Eddie.
How could he, the editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle and New York's number one star reporter, miss such big news?
Of course, the main reason was that he realized Anton had taken action tonight.
There couldn't be such a coincidence!
Anton's objective was likely the terrorist who had suddenly attacked New York, calling himself the "Green Goblin."
"I have to go see what's happening!"
Eddie quickly stood up and bid farewell to Splinter: "Master Splinter, I must go to the Osborn Building now. We can discuss the Foot Clan issue when I return. But you can rest assured, I, representing the Daily Bugle, guarantee that I will investigate the Foot Clan and TCRI to the end!"
The Daily Bugle was almost synonymous with Batman.
Splinter couldn't possibly have not heard of the up-and-coming Batman. Eddie believed that this human-like, wise old rat could understand the underlying meaning of his words.
"Eddie!"
April looked worried, and the next second, she gritted her teeth: "I'll go with you."
Eddie glanced at April.
Although they hadn't known each other long, April reminded him of his former self.
He knew he couldn't persuade her otherwise, so he nodded. "You can come with me, but you have to do exactly as I say."
As he spoke, the two of them walked towards the exit of the Ninja Dojo in the sewers.
"Wait."
Splinter hesitated for a moment and said, "I'll have the children assist you."
"Master!"
The four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles immediately gathered around.
They looked excited.
"Really?"
"We can finally go out and take action?"
The four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were so excited they were practically bouncing off the walls, feeling like they'd finally earned Splinter's approval.
"Do you think I don't know you've already been out there?"
Splinter snorted, looking at the four little turtles with a mix of exasperation and pride.
Honestly, if Eddie hadn't come to him, he wouldn't have known that the four turtles had already tangled with the Foot Clan, and even made them stumble.
Looks like… it's time!
Splinter was both nervous and excited.
On the one hand, he hoped that his efforts over the past decade would allow him to meet the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles he'd imagined. On the other hand, he hoped the four little turtles would be safe and sound, returning victorious.
