Alpha Cana was riding back to his pack in his carriage after the long meeting at the Blackwood fortress. He had been dozing off, his head nodding from exhaustion, when the carriage suddenly lurched to a stop, jerking him awake.
His eyes widened in alertness as he sat up straight, his hand instinctively reaching for the dagger strapped to his side. He glanced out the window, his instincts on edge. He was in no mood for rogues tonight. The day's discussions had drained him enough already.
"What is going on?" he demanded sharply when one of his guards appeared by the carriage door.
"Alpha, it is Alpha Igla. His carriage is blocking the road."
Cana's brows furrowed in suspicion at the news, but Alpha Igla appeared instantly at the side of his carriage before he could say a word, a wide smile spread across his face.
"Alpha Cana!" Igla greeted, in a warm and smooth voice. "Thank the goddess for bringing you my way, my friend. My carriage broke down a short distance from here."
