"DXD: Multiverse Journey"Chapter 202: Turning the Tide—Conquering Miku's Heart
"Crap… I think I pushed her too far."
Shuo Nangong hadn't expected his words to hit Miku so hard. Her spirit power spiked, surging out of control.
She was seconds away from a spacequake, and in the heart of Tengu City, that meant disaster.
No time to hesitate—Shuo froze the world and yanked Miku into a pocket dimension.
The air around her shimmered, thick with black, swirling spirit energy.
"She's… inverting?"
Shuo's eyes widened. In the original timeline, Miku never lost control like this.
A fractured, hollow sound echoed in his ears.
Miku slowly raised her head. Her purple-silver eyes, once bright, now dull and icy.
She wore a black dress trimmed in violet and moonlight, a skirt edged with ruffled darkness, a crescent moon pinned in her hair.
Her presence was nothing like before—cold, commanding, untouchable.
"Yeah… she's gone full inversion."
A sigh escaped Shuo's lips.
Miku summoned her Angel—the Demon King's Songstress.
A grand piano, black and white, materialized before her.
She pressed a key. The air rippled as she launched sonic waves at Shuo, notes sharp and relentless.
He barely flinched. Compared to the pain she'd endured, this was nothing.
When the last echo faded, Shuo reached out with his mind, locking Miku's body in place.
He stepped closer, gentle.
"Miku, are you alright?"
His hand brushed her cheek. He reached out with his consciousness, diving into her mind.
Darkness.
Fragments of memory drifted by—pain, humiliation, loneliness.
The deeper he went, the more he felt the weight she carried.
At the core, he found her: eyes empty, shoulders slumped, lost in a void.
He sat beside her.
"Miku, I've always believed in you."
She didn't react, but he kept talking, voice soft, patient.
"Your voice… it's beautiful. Even after everything, I hope you'll find your way out of the shadows."
"If you love to sing, keep singing. Don't let anyone else decide your worth. Walk your own path. Let the world say what it wants."
"The first song I sent you—'Confession of Tears'—is for facing sadness and joy, for living bravely.
The second—'Crimson Lotus'—is about chasing beauty, defying rumor, daring to dream.
I'm giving them to you because I want you to have the courage to stand on stage again. To be reborn."
Slowly, color returned to Miku's eyes. She looked at him—really looked.
Seeing the sorrow etched on her face made Shuo's heart twist.
"If you trust me, I'll share your pain from now on.
Whatever happens, I'll love you. That will never change."
He kept talking, kept reaching for her through the darkness.
And finally, something broke.
Light fractured the void.
Miku's eyes glistened, tears spilling down her cheeks.
She whispered, voice trembling but clear:
"Now I know why I need to be strong. Take me with you—let's move forward.
Even if my heart's stubborn, even if my hands tremble, I want to hold on to what matters.
In the breath of night, staring up at the sky…"
Shuo hummed the melody, voice soft as dawn.
The blackness shattered, rays of light flooding in.
Each lyric was a lifeline, pulling her from despair.
For the first time, she believed:
Someone really did trust her.
Someone really did love her.
In a flash, the black dress dissolved into a gown of light. Miku gazed at Shuo, eyes shining with new hope.
"Forever… I'll love you."
She collapsed into his arms, spent.
The world snapped back. Shuo released the time-stop, cradling Miku—her cheeks still wet, breath soft and steady.
He wiped away her tears, paid the café bill, and teleported her home.
He laid her gently on the sofa.
Moments later, her eyes fluttered open.
"Darling!"
Before he could react, Miku leapt up, hugging him tight.
"Da… Darling?!"
Her sudden affection caught Shuo off guard.
But her smile was real, radiant.
He couldn't help but smile back.
"Looks like you've finally stepped out of the shadows."
"Mm! It's all thanks to you, Darling. Without you, I never would've found my confidence again!"
She pressed closer, her body warm against his, her chest snug against his side.
Shuo swallowed, nerves jangling.
Miku noticed, a playful grin curling her lips.
They spent the evening together, lost in each other's warmth, sharing secrets and laughter.
"Hmm? You want to sing for me?"
Shuo blinked, surprised by her sudden request.
"Of course! Darling, what's wrong? Don't tell me you don't like my singing…"
Her voice wavered, eyes pleading.
Shuo scratched his head, smiling sheepishly.
"How could I ever say no? Getting a private concert from the famous Miku—what an honor."
"Really? You mean it?"
For a moment, Miku blushed, then cleared her throat.
"Alright, Darling. Here goes."
Her voice filled the room—clear, sweet, heartbreakingly beautiful. Even without music, every note was flawless.
When she finished both songs, Shuo didn't hold back his praise.
"Unbelievable, Miku. Your singing is gorgeous—no wonder you're a pro. Compared to you, I'm just a third-rate amateur."
Miku giggled, cheeks pink.
"Thank you, Darling. I only sing so well because you gave me these amazing songs!"
Praised by the one she loved, Miku's smile was pure happiness.
